Janne Herajärvi Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I decited to start this when paints and glues are drying in my other projects. Progress is going to be slow because i havent done any truck models in years and i want to do my best for this. I am not sure what colors i am going to use but i like that pic in side cover of this box, so maybe something like that. So here is my start It maybe something like this but i am not sure yet.
Ben Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I think someone posted pictures of old cabover paint schemes in the "truck reference" section of this forum. There might be some Freightliner paint schemes in there to give you more choices.
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Thenk you Ben. I find them and i liked this one: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb174/flatbedkw/Misc%20reference%20pix/2m2waw0.jpg But still i am not sure where this ends Frame is ready for paint, just need to choice color theme first Cheers...
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Engine got its first coat of color today. My choice was Revell SM310 Satin yellow. Its maybe not correct but i like it Comments, ideas, tips, etc are welcome

I am still wondering how to detail it Or i just build it out of box Even little google search didnt help Well just dont shoot me if its not correct with details witch i maybe put in there All comments are welcome
Jim B Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 This might help some: Detailing Cummins NTA370 & 855 Engines
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 27, 2010 Author Posted January 27, 2010 This might help some: Detailing Cummins NTA370 & 855 Engines Thank you, that did help little bit. There was some good information for detailing
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Its time for little update. Ill take some artistic freedom with detailing becouse its little easier for me. I still try to keep it beliviable. First is sand those mudflaps down for better scale look. Then glued fueltanks together and added those "terminals" for fuellines. Some little details for transmission and more come later. Enough wires for details? And here is my nice chaos. There is Chevy van, Volvo Amazon, 62 Belair and this Freightliner in progress now. All comments are welcome
The Modeling Hermit Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 I really enjoy watching the progress on a quality build.
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 Thank you guys! Looks good, I also want to see that Volvo! Here is link to my topic in FCMA forum (Finnish language), so there is Volvo in progress now. I havent done much for it yet, but when i get back to it ill maybe start posting progress on MCM forum too. http://www.fcma.fi/FCMABBS/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8487
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 I didnt like rear mudflaps and rearlights on this kit so i did my own desing mudflaps and lightbars. Some little details for alternator too before paint. Cheers...
macs_rock Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 This is gonna be one wicked Freightliner! Looks great!
disabled modeler Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Its looking good to me! Nice detailing......Mark
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 Thank you guys! I was wondering that, how i didnt see this topic in 1:1 reference area? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25134 Thanks for sharing Aaron! There was almost everything what i need for detail this engine. There wasnt identical motor but close. Now i just make some more details Hardest thing is find out what wire goes where, but even they are accurate in scale that engine is not going to run
chuckyr Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Thank you guys! Here is link to my topic in FCMA forum (Finnish language), so there is Volvo in progress now. I havent done much for it yet, but when i get back to it ill maybe start posting progress on MCM forum too. http://www.fcma.fi/FCMABBS/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8487 This is a nice Volvo. Is this your model subject?
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 This is a nice Volvo. Is this your model subject? Not that kind of style. Its going to have almost orginal look, except wheels & tires are wider and color is maybe some tasty pearl, but we see where it goes when ill get back to it
Janne Herajärvi Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Hand painted wheels are almost like signature in my builds, so this truck is going to have it also There is little hint of upcoming cab color, its not nothing special just dark red from Humbrol enamels. Now it looks differend becouse that chrome is lurking under it, but ill paint them again later. Cheers...
Janne Herajärvi Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Small update. Painted second color for dash, it needs another coat. There is CD player also. Then bad news for rivet counters, this is last time you see rivets on this cabin Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Cheers...
whale392 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I like your build so far, and I think it will turn out great. On a side note, that Amazon is a resin kit isn't it? Any info on it (as I almost purchased a real 122S (stateside Amazon) but the yard that had it wouldn't come off of it. I love the car, and would love to build a model of what mine could have been.
Janne Herajärvi Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 Hi Bradley and thank you. There is something about that Volvo and other Air-Trax kits http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26136 And there is my small rewiew(in finnish language) with some pics http://www.fcma.fi/FCMABBS/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=8445 There is no pic of hood or PE-parts becouse i havent take them yet.
whale392 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Thanks for the links Janne, but for roughly $150.00 USD for the Amazon I will have to pass (the real car was only going to cost me $500.00 USD!). I do however look forward to seeing yours completed!
