MrObsessive Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Aaahhh! I knew it wouldn't be too long before someone started one of these here! 8) I'm gonna be hangin' on every word Ken as this is my next model after I finish the Corvette. The engine looks really good! Do you have a body color picked out yet? Keep us posted! 8)
Mr. Can Am Garage Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Grrr! Haven't seen any of these North of the border yet.
paulcolt Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 John,we do have them here north of the border. My LHS got them in last wednesday, and i had one done last Saturday.GREAT kit and builds up into a gorgeous car.
ratrodder Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 gotta get one of these. It looks like a good engine to transplant. ...ratrodder...
MrObsessive Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 I'm gonna do mine (eventually) in Inferno Red Metallic. I have the paint already as I got it at the same time I got the Sunset Orange for the Corvette. There's a 1:1 that lives just down the street from me and it's a gorgeous color!
Patrick E Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Hi John! Our hobbyshop in Regina got them in last Wednesday - all 6 kits were gone by the weekend. There should be some nice models on the table at the next model club meeting! And, your Magnum is starting to look great, Ken! All the Best! Patrick
Mr. Can Am Garage Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 John,we do have them here north of the border. My LHS got them in last wednesday, and i had one done last Saturday.GREAT kit and builds up into a gorgeous car. Figures that you'd have them in "the center of Canada". No such luck out in the boondocks nor by mail from Canada.
Captain Obvious Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Looks awesome so far, just picked this kit up yesterday at Wal-Mart....must've been on sale too, because I only paid $7.00 for it! I stripped the chrome off the wheels, leaving them in a glossy gray finish that I think I'm gonna leave as is. Been thinking hard for a paint scheme....I think it's going to be Testors GTS Blue Pearl with yellow-to-red fade sections on the hood, denoted by the blue painter's tape on the hood:
dukeaholic Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 NICE work!!! How did you get the dash so detailed? Are the gages decals?
Guest roadkill2525 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 On my Magnum I might try to put in a 426 Hemi or a 440 Six Pak. Im considering a Mopar High Impact color like Sublime, Plum Crazy, Top Banana or even Petty Blue.
MrObsessive Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 Nice work so far Ken! 8) This'll be my next build after I finish the Turbine Car...................maybe as a tow vehicle!
blubaja Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I think...is this what you are going to do with your hood? That's mine in the Plum Crazy with flat black stripes. Now that I think of it, I should have made a flat black panel on the hatch, like the Charger does on its trunk:(
Guest zebm1 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Not a criticizm, just a question, on tha Hemi's headers, is that raised edge that looks huge along tha bottom runner tha way tha real header casting looks? Gregg did a photo essay on that car, how about it Gregg? Zeb
1320wayne Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Very nice work so far. Waiting to see the finished piece.
James W Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Not a criticizm, just a question, on tha Hemi's headers, is that raised edge that looks huge along tha bottom runner tha way tha real header casting looks? Gregg did a photo essay on that car, how about it Gregg? Zeb I checked the 5.7 engine in my driveway. There are stamped heat sheilds over the manifolds. The raised edge could pass for the flange of the sheet metal. Paint the heat sheild (outside portion) stainless and the rest of the manifold cast iron or rust. The 5.7 and 6.1 engines have there differences but heat sheilds are fairly common practice anymore.
