Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I have been building models like crazy over the last month as I have just graduated college and have nothing better to do

Anyway, I have a Tamiya JACCS Accord in progress and have done a custom paint job on it. I have sprayed Tamiya Bright Red, Testors Competition Orange, Tamiya Lime Green, and Tamiya Gloss Black; all rattles. I bought a rattle of Testors clear and was wondering if this is safe to spray over the job I worked so hard on? There will also be decals in the mix once I get that far. I have done a search for this topic, but did not find a solid answer to this question and did not want to hijack another thread.

Any advice will be tremendously appreciated, as I do plan on building many many more models! Thank you!

Testors One Coat Clear should be fine on top of all those. It has a really deep gloss.

Thin dust coats and build them up rather than any heavy coats for clears.

Myself, I've had extremely good results with "Colors by Boyd" High Gloss Clear (a Testors product), although always airbrushed. Are you going to use a polishing system?

I dont know about the one coat laquer by Testors, but the Testors enamel clears, including Boyds have a yellow tint, which wont be noticable over dark colors, but will skew lighter colors, and the yellow deepens over time.

As long as you want a slight metallic gold flake...that paint isn't pure clear. It has a very light, but very real, gold flake.

Mark, you're talking about this one, correct?:

I'll take that under advisement. Thanks. Haven't used it over black yet.

Put it over black. I ruined the hood of a project by using the Testors clear when I ran out of Tamiya. It is very faint, and you'd never catch it over a light color I wouldn't think. Certainly not a metallic one. But it's there. I've used a half-dozen cans and like the stuff, but it's not pure clear. Not good, not bad, just something to know.

My biggest problem with it is actually it doesn't dry very hard in regards to heat resistance. Put it outside on a 75 degree day in the sun, and it gets soft enough to put fingerprints in.
