My VW Westie

There is several VW van builds now finished or in the pipeline here on the board. So I thought I would show this replica of my nephew's first set of wheels. I gave it to him one Christmas.

I don't recall too much, but I did scratch build the wheelcovers. Maybe the mirrors too.

Amazed it had the lifting roof. It looks like it would block all the windows when down ..how did that work that it didn't?

It was like a tent in that the sides (IIRC) were both screen material for ventilation, and a canvas for wet weather protection. I don't know how it folded up when the roof was lowered. Anyone know?

The model is long gone, if I ever rebuilt one, I would like to make that part of it functional.
