The Creative Explorer Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) I basically finished my Magnum and wanted another airbrush experiment, I was thinking of it last week and suddenly it came to me; I wanted to learn how to do flames, I never painted flames before, so it was a good way. But since regular flames are too simple, I wanted to do it a bit more complicated and went for True Fire. Although, it would have it's own style. The car itself is basically standard, I fitted the scooped hood and fitted the side fenders, although I altered them, so they are flush with the underline of the body, instead of having a gap. The Creative Explorer Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 Thanks guys! I hope it is any good @Jim: I used a mask from Aircolor Technik from Germany; Flammen 1. But I would guess any flame mask will do the trick. I did add the clear today to the body and accept for some orangepeel and a few mistakes, it is one very important step in the process, it blends the colors and brings life to the whole thing:
The Creative Explorer Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 In the meanwhile works continues on the Merc, I started working on the chassis and on the engine. Basically keeping it with the box-stock, since it looks pretty good. I did turn the custom wheel tires into whitewalls, the kit did came with whitewalls, but only for the smaller 'sombrero'wheels. And with the style I have chosen, it just didnt seem right with blakc tires, so I turned them white. And I do like it a lot better. For the rest there is not a whole lot to update, I did put a candy-red coat and some extra clear coats on top of the car and will soon start on the interior.
whale392 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Very nice! If I might suggest taking a paintbrush moistened with thinner and clean off the lug nut detail, it would really make the wheels pop.
The Creative Explorer Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 Thanks! Bradley; thanks for the tip. I was going to paint it silver, but chrome does make more sense. I couldn't get it done with thinner, so I scraped the paint off with a toothpick. And the last update for now, I have to wait for the body to harden out, so I can polish it and do some final assembly. In the last past days, I was able to fabricate the engine, chassis and interior.
