JamesW Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I have ANOTHER project on the bench. I'm gonna try some stuff with this one I've never done before. I need some ideas for paint, I'll be putting this on the trunk and need some ideas of colors that would go with it. If this pic is too innapropriate or in violation of the rules just let me know and I will remove it.
Railfreak78 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Cool idea to have a mural on the trunk. You'll have to post how to do that when its done
Modlbldr Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I'd say due to the sepia colors of the decal, I'd go with browns, tans and gold and change the wheels to gold spokes. Looks like it'll be a nice build. Good start anyway. Later-
JamesW Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 I was actually thinking of a gold with tan interior. I'm gonna try a few colors out on some spoons and see what I can come up with.
Harry P. Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I was actually thinking of a gold with tan interior. I'm gonna try a few colors out on some spoons and see what I can come up with. Gold with a white interior...
JamesW Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Yeah Harry, I am a sucker for white interiors, but it had never crossed my mind. White with tan carpet would look good.
Harry P. Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Yeah Harry, I am a sucker for white interiors, but it had never crossed my mind. White with tan carpet would look good. That would look good... nice contrast between the seats and the carpet.
JamesW Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Well, it's settled then. Gold exterior, white and tan interior.
diymirage Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 cool it looks like you and i are on the same track with our lowriders only mine will only have one lady on it and she will be better dressed and better looking then all 3 of yours also, mine will have a tan interior without carpeting and the body will be brown/tan/gold ill be keeping an eye on this build (to steal ideas ) feel free to scavenge my build for inspiration aswell
JamesW Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 After MONTHS of searching, and 25 test shots, I FINALLY found the perfect color for this. It's Turn Signal Amber over Krylon Leather Brown.
Modellpularn Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 After MONTHS of searching, and 25 test shots, I FINALLY found the perfect color for this. It's Turn Signal Amber over Krylon Leather Brown. And it turned out like a dark lime green? Cool wild color definately! I like that mural, hmmm decal. Did you do it on white decal paper? Otherwise all the shades and such will disappear. Had it happen to me with the grille and headlight decals from Revell's '55 Chevy Pro Sportsman, that I got copied. When I slid the decals onto my model- a very different car...., I got a black grille instead of with "chrome".
JamesW Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 Actually, in the right light it looks more like an Aztec Gold. The decal is on clear paper, I bought a few of em from a guy over on LIL. I'm gonna make a template for it and paint the area under it silver.
modelhut Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 This is going to be a fine model. It reminds me of the many cars from East Salinas, Watsonville, Castroville and San Jose, California. Those guys have rolling works-of-art! Keep the pictures coming Rod
JamesW Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) Made some progress on the Galaxie. The paint looks like crud, but oh well, I'm not stripping it AGAIN. Still gotta BMF and clear. I'm gonna TRY to plumb up the pumps too. Edited June 24, 2010 by grimreaper
JamesW Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 Well, I'm just a little irritated. I went to put the decal on the trunk and it started to crack and the colors started to run. Now I don't know what the heck to do.
diymirage Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 that really sucks about the decal i guess not everyone delivers tht same quality i would be more then willing to work on you with a replacement decal but you know there will be some more clothes involded
JamesW Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 Ahh, see bro, that's just the style I want for the lows. Thought about hittin you up, but I wouldn't even know where to start lookin for the images I want. Google doesn't help much.

JamesW Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 i can only imagine the search you would put in with google "Lowrider murals" is all I put, but you never get a clear enough pic of anything to be able to print it out.
diymirage Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 very true try the LIL forum wouldnt surprise me if thats where the first one came from there at any rate, if you do find one thats PG13 i would gladly print it for the going rate (which reminds me...you dont have a tab running you know)

I've got pics saved on my comp but not sure if you could print a decent one up, plus they're not PG13.
JamesW Posted July 1, 2010 Author Posted July 1, 2010 Engine is almost done, and I'm workin on the interior as I type this.
