so it looks like we will get the kit. and for about the same price of an iteleri truck kit.thats not bad.

Yep the price is in line for sure, can't wait to see the kit. Might have to pick up a few. That is one very cool looking truck on the road B)

Ok, so it's $53 US. Interesting. What about quality of Mobeius kits? I've never built one. Are they any good? Are they better than AMT?

Personally, I think the truck is ugly, but that's just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions! That being said, I'll probably pick one up because it's different & unique. Different's good.

I want to see them, too. I wonder if this kit can be convertd into an International 9900 Classic? Does any one know if it will be curbside or not?

If you guys think that the price and kit details are finalized don’t kid yourselves. The Trumpeter Lafrance was originally supposed to have a detailed drive train and the Italeri Volvo VN series was planned to have an accurate engine. The final costs of all of those details resulted in a kit that priced beyond the price point of the target market. I’m not saying this will happen to the Lone Star project, but the economy is what it is and IMC and MPC had big plans for big rig subjects and they folded. I have become a pragmatist regarding model truck kits and many truck modelers say they will buy subjects only to back out with various excuse. We shall see.

No it can't be converted into a 9900. Completly different cab structure.

Well, I guess that answers that. Thanks, Dave.

Ive been told by Moebius Models that December 2010 is the release date. It will be 1/25th scale with over 300 pieces and lots of detail as it is being prototyped as we speak. We shall see!

this december is what i was told to. over 300 parts and decals. i bet the box art will be the black truck with red strips like the one in all of the lonestar ads. but who knows? :P

I've been following this thread and another one on another board that Moebius participates in and asked them as well about the truck. Here is the response I got from them today:

"It has been announced as a 4th QTR release. Retail is 69.99. Nothing for test shots yet, as I mentioned before the research has been tough. International's engineering department has been helpful, but they are so busy. We're still hoping on a 2010 release, but until we get the initial mockup we can't be sure where it's headed."

I'm certainly not going to hold my breath, but I definitely don't want them to rush it either. If suggested price is around $70 I can certainly see the $50 range for the online shops.

looks like a feb or march of next year to me.

Mike, it may even be a bit further than that too. It all hinges on that first mock up and what changes will be needed. Then for International to put its stamp of approval on it. I'm willing to wait for a good product. I don't think anyone else will be doing one anytime soon.

Hang in there Mike!!

I am generally not interested in modern trucks, but I might pony up for one of these, if nothing else just to encourage Moebius to branch out.Wonder if they have any plans to tackle any automotive subjects?

Like there are not any other model manufactures that offer automobile subjects!

Hey Jim

If everything goes OK I will have a 9900ix cab and hood before too long ;)

Sounds like Moebius has a really good response to the kit! Here's what they had to say today:

"It's been pretty popular so far with distributors. I think it will sell well enough that we can do some of the other new International vehicles. No rush on it for sure, this is actually our second year into this particular kit, it's been a long time coming for us!"

Sounds great!
