brett Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 My first real post here, been a bit nervous to post with all the great talent on this board. Am also quite far along with this particular build but it still allows me to get my feet wet so to speak. Right on with the details, Revell 70 mustang building the tunnel rammed 429. Paint is candy red and candy yellow mixed together hence the candy orange over an unknown shade of Dupont silver. fast foward a couple of days, floors are flocked seats are painted and motor detailing has started cut off the kits abyssmal master cylinder and plumbed up a parts box one
Longbow Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Very nice ,I Like the color, Looks like a clean build.Welcome to the MCM site you will do just find here.
charlzrocks Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 beautiful paint and details! Can't wait ti see it finished!
pharr7226 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Nice job mixing the paint. I love the color. I got a similar effect using candy apple red over a brass base. The depth in the grill looks great and the interior is sweet. Welcome to the forum and keep posting.
MikeMc Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Nuttin better than a Boss429!!!!!!!......OK a SOHC....but thats not factory!
modelhut Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Brett, great color! The build is coming along fantastic, keep the pictures coming.
nails3825 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 It's looking great so far! In my opinion, every one should have at least one sexy mustang in their model collection
VW Dave Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Brett - With this level of work, rest assured you have no need to feel intimidated here...or anywhere, for that matter. I really like the color you came up with. Nice job, mate!
rustybill1960 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 i am in awe of your paint mixing! GREAT JOB!! love the colour man! the rest of the build is sure to be "KILLER" welcome on board and Thank You for sharing dude later
brett Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Wow, thanks for the warm welcomes and the info regarding the grille. Dave , hadn't even thought about securing the brake lines to the body, thanks for reminding me , have to see if I can get in there now lol. The hood issue seems to be more the fuel lines than dizzy wires at the moment, theres just a little tension in there somewhere but its not far off closing properly. Bluesman Mark. I'll take all the HELPFUL critisism that comes my way, not only will it make me a better modeller but quite often a better person as well. Anyway heres the progress shots from last night. As you can see its looking quite complete at the moment but I've yet to fix the grille , BMF it, rear spoiler , mirrors and half a dozen other little things. I don't/can't build super shiney sema style look at my reflection paint jobs, so dont expect one. Shiney enough to be a well maintained driver is the look I can achieve and usually go for , No offence meant to anyone who does, I do like them ,I just cant build em lol
Smart-Resins Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 looking very good! I will be doing a blue one soon like in those other pics, but with a white interior. Jody
brett Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 Thanks guys , got the BMF done today and worked on the hood issue some more, should have some more pics tomorrow if not finish it.
pharr7226 Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I love this build. The engine details look great.
oldscool Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) Killer paint job and color choice! It's nice to see one of these built as something other than replica stock. I'm getting sick of Magnum 500 style wheels LOL. As for the grille, since you DIDN'T build it replica stock you can paint it any color you want to. oldscool Edited March 8, 2010 by oldscool
brett Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 Thanks again for the comments, pretty much done now just license plate and tidy up the parts box battery (didnt realise that the kit didnt come with one till last night). Fixed the grille more for an accuracy thing (I mean whos gonna chrome plate a grille thats not usually chrome?) Mirrors and spoilers attatched, so heres the last update before it goes under glass. thanks for following along.
Ragnar Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Nuttin better than a Boss429!!!!!!!......OK a SOHC....but thats not factory! Actually you could special order the Cammer in the Boss. My cousin had a Green and Black Boss with the Cammer! CHEERS!
Ragnar Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) I like the paint job, and that Highrise with two Fours is BAD! CHEERS! Edited March 8, 2010 by Ragnar
