jbwelda Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 that paint is unbelievable! but whats with the water drop effect there? thats not a decal, right, you airbrushed it? i am in awe, seriously. the snake pattern is captured so well and those water drops just look right! amazing!
pharr7226 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Fantastic work Cranky! I saw the E Hubs videos for the water droplets and snake skin some time ago but I was too intimidated to try it. Your execution of the technique is very impressive. I can't wait to see more of this build.
my80malibu Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Hey Virgil your model is looking Excellente' the colors are just fantastic. One thing, You need to flip the Master cylinder and brake booster around or all your brake fluid is Gonna leak out.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Thanks, everyone. While I'm waiting for the rain to stop so that I can clear and buff this sucker, I worked on finishing the rolling chassis . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Here are a couple more pics . . . Stay tuned in for more . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Wow, finally it stopped raining and so I clear coated the model. Now, I can begin final assembly. Stay tuned for more . . .
Mooneyzs Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Cranky.... This is coming along Fantastic....The engine looks great in the chassis. Can't wait to see more progress. I have got to ask what did you use for the center caps for the wheels, they look great. I have been trying to figure out what to do or use for my rat rod....
Dr. Cranky Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Watch parts, buddy. I know I sound like a scratched record, but I always use a whole bunch of watch parts! I guess it's a stylistic thing with me! Stay tuned in for more progress.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 All right, maties, now that everything is shiny and dry, final assembly can begin. What I love about the Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland chopped 32 body is that it comes with a well-fitting etched windshield and clear acetate. You glue the windshield the acetate and then cut around and it drops right into the frame groove. Perfect fit! I still have to add a few details like hoses, licesence plate, etc, and this one will be done . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Thanks, buddy, I will. I think I will be able to finish this sucker today if all goes well. Stay tuned in.
Mooneyzs Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Beautiful!!! She is looking great. do you get your watch parts online or from a local store? I hope you don't mind me asking all the questions that I have so far.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 I don't mind at all, buddy. It's a forum, we share ideas here . . . I get all my watch parts on line through Ebay. A few years ago I bought a few pounds of the stuff. Yes, you heard right, a few pounds.

Mooneyzs Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 I don't mind at all, buddy. It's a forum, we share ideas here . . . I get all my watch parts on line through Ebay. A few years ago I bought a few pounds of the stuff. Yes, you heard right, a few pounds. I had to do a double take "did he really say a few pounds".... that would be alot of watch parts...lol Thanks again.
