cobra98 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Alright fellas,...Don't laugh to hard,This is my first attempt at this much scratch-building & I'm trying to use stuff that i already have. Started with an old ford cab & chassis from the parts box & a set of wheels & tires from grimreaper & misc. bits of styrene stock. Added some siderails Fabbed up some mudflaps'stacks,& fuel tanks Mock-up as of now
JamesW Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I see nothing to laugh at, Joe. It looks good. Better than I could do. LOL
cobra98 Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 where are the tanks going? They're going under the bed in front of the rear tires...I just have them sitting in the bed to let the glue dry, wasn't gonna mount them there.
dwc43 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 If you put square tanks under it instead of round and leave the pockets but take the stake rails off and cover it in mud and or rust and dents it would look like half the truck used on horse farms around here.
macs_rock Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Looks great! I love to see pickups that aren't outrageous, but rather more like shop trucks.
hemithunder Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Looks great, Cobra98. Is that the cab from an 80's bigfoot truck?
Aaronw Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Whats to laugh at, the flatbed looks good, and its always great to see someone giving scratchbuilding a shot. I'll warn you though, once you try it you will start looking for stuff you can add to kits. We might find you building a Corvette flatbed next time.
cobra98 Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Thanks fellas,...If any of ya have some links or tips on this type of stuff please post hemithunder...Yep,the cab is from the old "Destroyer" monster truck kit,i think it was the same as the "bigfoot".
cobra98 Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Finally had time to do a bit more,..mounted fuel tank,added a lightbar,& did a little painting
Railfreak78 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 This looks fantastic! It sits perfect and has a great look. Nice work!

RodneyBad Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Great looking FlatBed. You did some really nice scratch building on the Bed. Truck looks good. Wheels are nice too. Wonder what kit they came from?
JamesW Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Great looking FlatBed. You did some really nice scratch building on the Bed. Truck looks good. Wheels are nice too. Wonder what kit they came from? Rodney, the wheels are from the AMT Chevy Dooley. (I only know cuz he got em from me).
RodneyBad Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Rodney, the wheels are from the AMT Chevy Dooley. (I only know cuz he got em from me). Thank you. It must be the painted center caps that really sets them apart. .
JamesW Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 A few years ago I worked on a maintenance crew, and our work truck was a 96 C3500 Dumpbed. The caps were flat black and it really made the truck stand out for some reason. That's why I painted them.
tuffone20 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Truck looks great and that flatbed is just awesome!! I really like the way you made it and what you've done with it so far, nice color too.
69_charger Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 looks good... when i saw that bed i instantly thought 'moonshiner'
cobra98 Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Thanks Guys Eelco...the pinecone soap dispenser is one of those "wifey things",she thought it would look better than a bar of Lava
modelhut Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Nothing to laugh at. You have/are doing a great job! The flatbed looks great, and the paint is a perfect color. A very nice all-around work truck! Rod
