Nothing new there Jon , the asian designers have had a facination with Lions , Tigers and Bears for several years . My guess is , it's lunch time at the zoo. Ed Shaver

Because if headlights angled down then the design would look droopy and sad. Buyers today are very style conscience, now more so than at any other time. Image is everything and since most cars are nearly the same under the skin (re: dependability, mechanically and economocally) all that is left is the styling of the headlights, air intakes and the glass shapes.

Incidentally... NO car made today has hidden headlights! How about that fact?

That headlight fad has been going on for a while now. Seems like they're all "hopping" on the bandwagon!

While out today, I saw a Hyundai with a big pink "nose" in the center of the grille and two pieces of white plastic suggesting ears going by. I wish I had a camera with me when I saw it. It was ridiculous, but still worth a chuckle.

Gives me the creeps. I hope we will see nicer stuff soon. I mean, there must be an epitome to ugliness. After this is reached, styling can only improve. Gosh, I'm thinking this for 25 years now. And everytime I think it is reached, something uglier is unveiled.

I mean, would you sleep with somebody who looks like a BMW bootlid?

Some of these cars around here have a crome strip on the upper part making it look like it has chrome teeth. I have to laugh everytime I see one.

If buyers are more style- conscious, how does one explain the CTS, the 300, the Charger or SUV's and crossovers? Most of the crossovers look like malignant tumors, and SUV's? How much style can you inject into some oversized station wagon? While I'm at it, how does one explain those bizarro wheel openings on the Colorado?
