I got this revell ford mustang in a trade without an engine which was fine with me.

I still need a few things for this build, these include...

A pair of racing seats and the revell gt500 heat extractor hood.

Revell have been kind to send me the grill from the bullitt mustang kit but i am yet to recieve it, should come this week though.

My own custom colour im using, tamiya clear orange mixed with tamiya metallic titanium silver, it turned out nice, should look even better on the body.

Picture135.jpg

Body....flawless, no dips, warping ect.

Picture132.jpg

The heart, dodge viper v10, intake will be painted the same colour as the body, the cam covers will be painted with alcad chrome II then the rest will be detailed.

Picture133.jpg

The back of the tranny fits perfect because it has a little stub that fit in the mustang chassis, im guessing the original mustang engine also had this stub.

Picture134.jpg

Only small cosmetic upgrades will be added, the gt500 hood (if i can get one), also the front lip and 1/4 window louvers from reliable resin, the interior will be slightly modded, a few more guages on the dash for the engine and the dash will be black flocked like race cars.

All for now........

it will be nice to see a real engine in one of those car

would make an awesome sleeper

Thanks man, iv cut away the original front engine mount and fabricated a new one.

Its a tight fit in the engine bay but its better to have a tight fit then no fit i guess, pics tomorrow as its late now.

it will be the first ever cobra with an actual bite to it

Exactly lol, Maybe i should have called it the mustang twin snake.

Here is the engine mounted, the viper oil pan hit the front of mustang chassis and makes it sit level so i don't know if i should make the side mounts or just glue the pan to chassis, once everythings painted of course.

Picture137.jpg

cut away the viper induction kit ready for my custom one, theres enough room for and intercooler but i don't think theres enough room for a turbo charger.

Dec ... cool project, check your PM. And .. there is always room for a turbocharger lol ...

lol, thanks for comments guys, the hardest bit on this build is the front end....im going to have to cut the sway bar and steering rack in the center because they both hit the oil pan of the engine and push it up, i don't want that.

i still need to make these engine side mounts too.

The rest of the build shouldn't be as hard, iv got racing seats coming now, should be here in a week.

Im usuall impatient with painting but as this body is flawless im going to take my time painting it.

When i decide to get the body filler out for my charger project il get a little on this too, imo the emblem is way oversized so im going to fill in the hole so between the rear lights will be smoothed.

you may want to mock everything up with the interior/front fenderwell piece and firewall while you are fitting the engine. right now it looks like you already won't have any room for the radiator so that will have to be relocated or possibly split into two radiators.

Ford did build an experimental V-10 powered Mustang at one point.

Dave

Iv got it mocked up right now with the interior and fender wells, it fits snug between the fenders, there is about a 5mm gap between the ford radiator (with fan on) and the drive pulleys which suprised me abit, i think if i put turbos on it they will have to go in the bottom corners of the front bumper but it might be better just to keep it simple and build twin induction kit instead which im currently working on, pics later.

yeah i was searching vids before i started the project trying to find out if anybody had ever done a viper v10, 2005+ mustang but all i could find was that late 90s mustang mule with a that experimental ford v10.

looking "KILLER" would hate to meet it at a race

you'll be fine, just make sure you race on gravel

by the time he hooks up you'll be miles away

as for cool mudstank vids online, look for the one with the WW2 tank engine

Wow! Reminds me of the "2004 Mustang Mule" that Ford put a V10 Truck motor turned supercar engine in. I can't wait to see how you get this to work in this body style Mustang. Keep up the great work! I think that colour is going to look awesome. Keep us posted!

I got my flocking today but unfortunatly iv been busy all day working on my real car (MG ZR) so iv not got round to painting or anything so im a day behind.

Iv got alot of painting to catch up on, i have a total of 5 paint that need to be used....flat black, gloss black, silver, titanium met orange and clear orange...only problem is iv only got white primer but it should be fine because black and silver cover anything.

oh before i forget, i cut away part of the tranny so the engine will fit further back in the engine bay, it all glued and puttied together now and sitting as perfect as i can get it, im going to have to either shave part of the v10 oil pan to make it sit above the steering rack level or use a spare on from a v8, im finding it quite difficult to make the side engine mounts but hopefully i can pull it off. I think there might be enough room for a turbo now....now i just need to find somewhere that makes them.

I will post pics tomorrow when stuff is painted.

1st pics of the day...

Interior mockup, using the shifter from the amt F&F charger kit, imo the mustang one is too small.

It all need a bit of light sanding.

Picture138.jpg

Also got the new grill B) Thankyou revell

This kit is the revell muscle 06 mustang but i requested the grill from the bullit mustang because it clean, no badges or emblems.

As im from the UK i didn't have to send a bar code and because i had to e-mail them directly my order was pushed up the line.

Pic abit hard to see.

keep replacing ford junk with mopar parts at the rate your going and you just might end up with a decent ride

lol, thanks, i wanted to get stuff painted today but iv been mainly focusing on bodywork and fabrication, alot of the parts need flat black so iv got some coming but i thought i may as well paint the chargers body when iv got the black so iv been focusing on the charger bodywork the most, the hole for the emblem on the mustang is now filled, im wanting smoked tailights so im going to paint gloss black from the inside. hopefully i can get progress pics tomorrow.

At least he did drop a Viper engine into it, versus the 'I copied someone elses design and called it my own-every NASCAR loving redneck has one (built incorrectly) and thinks it's the baddest engine ever' Chevy small-block.

Build looks good so far, and seems to be up my alley as far as how I would try (as they will not do) order a real one......GT body, GT500 drivetrain and suspension/brakes/hood, and Bullitt nose, base V6 interior.....a sleeper with serious functionality.

Thanks man, i hope to get the gt500 extractor hood soon along with the gt500 spoiler.

I acctually prefer the v6 mustang to the v8, what it lack in power it makes up for in cornering but if i made a v6 mustang it would be nothing new or unique.

I got the flat black yesterday morning but iv been helping my dad with his real car, mainly tcut and polish :)

I am going to paint tomorrow, no excuses.

Better picture of the front, the bottom grills look more detailed because the body is primered, the upper grill isn't.

Picture146.jpg

Interior mockup, the new shifter looks more accurate to the driving position, these are not the seats im using, iv ordered some racing seats...im just waiting for them (stupid ash cloud).

Picture145.jpg

Engine bay mockup, im finding it impossible to make the side mounts, it does not have the oil pan attached and iv decided not to attach it, 1...you will probaly never see it and 2...it sits perfect now so adding the pan would just push it up and create more work.

want to build as something better might try a street racer with

the stock motor or a Lightning V8 I have

Ok the last pics were just to keep this build alive but it didn't really work.

I got the engine mounted level but i still can't make these side mounts, now there is less then a 1mm gap between the engine and the radiator shroud which im happy with, i might cut away part of the shroud still though to show what im going to do, the first thing is to get a smaller radiator, i am going to use the original fog light holes as cold air induction holes but im not going to drill holes in the grill, i dont know how to build the induction filters but for the cold air hoses im going to bend thin wire round a cotton bud then put heatshrink over it, shrink it down to make that induction hose effect, im going to make 2, 1 per intake.

Picture163.jpg

I also found a NOS bottle from a AMT F&F Eclipse, i dont know where im going to put it yet but the injectors will go where the mustangs original air filter would go.

Picture162.jpg

I have to go to the dentist tomorrow so i will pick up some supplies from the model shop which is conveniently next door to the dentist.

Also iv decided to stick with the original custom colour, iv just ordered a new airbrush so it should get some paint this week.

EDIT: Before i forget, revell have been kind to send me the strut brace from the bullitt kit, the gt500 hood iv been wanting and the gt500 decals.

OK got some paint on it finally, this was done with my new airbrush, its a single action bottom feed and it sprays much nicer then my duel action gravity feed and it only cost me £4, i was going to wait for more primer but i needed to get it painted really, the front is tamiya flat black, the back half will be tamiya light green, i should get the new hood, decals and strut brace soon and also there is a suprise on the horizon....

Picture182.jpg

The paint went down very nice, had to be my best yet, it is still drying in the pic so you might be able to see slight tiger stripes and such but its come out very nice.

Gonna be a nice project... But in my opinion (and this is just my opinion) the shifter is way to long for this car if it were like this in a real car your hand would be at top dash level. other than that keep the good work commin.

Thanks man, yeah i think it looks abit big too, its suppost to be a after market shifter for old muscle cars, i was originally going to use a sequential race style shifter but i can't seem to find them.

I should be able to get the second colour on, i did some editing on photoshop and i think silver would look better for the back, i only have met silver though which should be a good contrast....i need to get some tamiya flat clear (not can) too but i can't seem to find that either.
