PatRedmond Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Tom. I want to have a finish like on your Orange Merc. Howjadoit ??? Anybody else is also encouraged to reply. Question #2. Can/has anybody tried to 'flatten' Testors New Lacquers?
Dan Helferich Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I like what Tom did with that Merc too! It reminds me of the "frosted" look paint jobs that were around for a while in the '60's. I echo Pat's desire to know how he did it.
Harry P. Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I haven't seen the Merc, but it's easy to flatten any paint. Just spray flat clear over it. (or semi-gloss clear if you want a slightly shinier look).
old-hermit Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Paint it any color you want and finish with this ... If you want it a little shineier put a coat of wax on it. .
PatRedmond Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 This stuff SAFE over Testors New One Coat Lacquers ? Paint it any color you want and finish with this ... If you want it a little shineier put a coat of wax on it. .
Harry P. Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 You can get flat and semi-gloss clear acrylic... safe over any paint.
old-hermit Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 This stuff SAFE over Testors New One Coat Lacquers ? I've used it over Plasti-kote lacquer with no problem. Never over Testors. Try it on a test panel of sheet styreen first.
weasel Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Black Gold HoK rattle/bottle and requires clearcoat, or not!! this right from the can.. this has Testor DullCote...
MikeMc Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 HOK thinned and airbrushed will give that finish. The manual will tell you that you do not have UV protection unless cleared with the proper topcoat. HOK Violette Pearl not cleared.
old-hermit Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Plasti-kote gloss black with pinstripe decals then Krylon Matte Finish ... Plasti-kote metallic blue with pinstripe decals then Krylon Matte Finish ...
