Steve H. Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Haven't done as much as I hoped... just the first coat of paint on the body, the roof insert and grill. I've also started painting the interior, using the wimbledon white I've used everwhere else. All of the blower components are done in alclad polished aluminum. The heads need a little bit of wash to tone them down. As an experiment for the Alclad, I used Tamiya dark blue mettalic as a base coat, instead of black. It does give the aluminum a lighter tone, with blue shadow instead of black. My theory is that chrome or polished metal reflects the sky, so it should have a blue tone to it. I also spent WAY too long trying to persuade the headers into shape. They're still not where I want them, either! I may order another set from RMCoM and cut them off ahead of the door. At least this project has a name now... "Topper"! Don't know why that came about, just sounded right
KDog Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 oh Man that things looking Sweet ! Love the look of that Flatty in there..

Guest zebm1 Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 How 'bout a close-up of tha puffer Steve, sos we can see tha effect of using tha different base coat? Purty please?
Steve H. Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 I have 2 intake manifolds painted, black and blue basecoats. I'll try to get pics later this evening.
Steve H. Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 really crappy pics, the color and graininess is somewhat exagerated. Left intake is base coated blue, right is base coated black. You can tell how the base coat affects the finished color.

ScrappyJ Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Nice build you've got going there, Steve! I like the name too. The white-walls and all make it sort of formal like is would be wearing a tux and a top hat (Topper?).
Gray Smith Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 looking good steve, can't wait to see more of it. Your 32 and the flattie Jb built has me itching to work on my 32 Gray
