1969 Dodge Charger

This isn't my newest build, nor is it my best build or my best photographs.(I didn't feel like getting out the photo set up for only a few models) But, it was a FUN build, for the most part. I didn't clear over the BMF because I didn't want to mask off the vinyl top (which came out too shiny, then I wanted). Now I Remember why I do that, getting the chassis in (no easy task!) removed most of the BMF from the wheelwells.

This is the Revell kit, and a basic build. Mostly box stock, but I inverted the front spindles so the nose would sit lower. I also used the taillights from a Daytona kit, as the Charger came with none. Luckily I've converted three of the Daytona to NASCAR specs, and they don't use the taillights there!

I finished it the day before the NNL East and brought it there without taking any photos yet! Actually, it wasn't QUITE done, as I had not taken the orange Sharpie to the front marker lights yet.

Billy, slap a set of Ansen Sprints on that rascal and you've got my Charger! See WHAT a BEAUTIFUL car it was? NOW you understand WHY it's STILL a sore spot between Me an the Wife? SHE made me get rid of it!(Too many speeding tickets!) But since I sleep with HER and NOT in the car, it was just one of those, Damed if ya do, damed if ya don't! So it's just a GREAT/sorry memory for me! STILL MISS/LOVE that car! Oh well.......

"Your in a Heap of trouble Boy" .."Hey Charger" . Yup , nice factory Stock . It has the look of someone messed with the Torsion bars . A friend of mine rented a MoPar for a weeked . Raced it at the Drag Strip . He cranked up the torsion bars to make the weight transfer quicker . I think he Trophied . When it came time to turn it in , he couldn't get it right . He paid for that mistake . This triple black reminds me of my triple green '69 1:1 . Thanx ..

Engine is in a Zip Lock waiting to be transplanted into another model Chassis and interior are all flat black, not much to see there.

I'm glad you guys like the paint. Here's a little secret....portions of this car were brush painted! When I sprayed the body (Tamiya TS 14 Black directly onto white PLASTIC) I missed a few spots...leading edge of the hood, left side top of the door, some of the contours of the taillight panel...so I brush painted them. It's noticible more in person then it is in the pictures, but it's not too bad by any means.

I've actually always had pretty good luck with black. I can usually lay down a smooth black paint job unless the can is almost empty, when it is it tends to bubble and/or run. I've also brush painted entire bodies black and had them come out so good they fooled people into thinking it was sprayed on What can I say, black's my color when it comes to spray paint!
