of Scale Auto and it is a great one!

Why are you posting that here???

Do you suppose you should post about the new MCM on the SA forum? Good luck with that...

Just keeping it model car related!

Seriously though, I am anxious to see the latest MCM, I have been jonesing for some reading materials and like the contrasts between the two magazines.

Harry,I'd like to think that one of the differances is,here he CAN post about SA(no E) I buy both Scale Auto AND Model Cars because baby that's about all we got,and I wear out BOTH mags waitin for the next issue.

Posted

Yeah, he can post that here... but why do it? SA has a forum, wouldn't it make more sense to post about how much you like the latest issue of SA on the SA forum??? :D

Just because we don't run this place like a maximum security prison doesn't mean that we have no standards...

Saw the SA issue at the LHS today but decided to pass on an inferior product.

Hey Harry - when will the MCM website be updated with a newer magazine cover? January 2010 is long gone already.

I'm sure this will stir up a hornet's nest, but if MCM was on time, perhaps one wouldnt feel the urge to brag about the other mag getting into ones hands! Food for thought. I know it's not YOUR fault Harry!

Lee I am sending you some ointment for those stings you are about to get...

Harry,

You seem to be very sensitive lately. You know those guys don't hold a candle to the product you produce but they have some excellent writers over there including some very faithful posters here. The laid back attitude is why I choose to call MCM forum home. jmtcw

But then we would have to go there to see it... and who would want to do that?

Lee, the fact that MCM is always late is my number one biggest PITA. And you're right, it's beyond my control. Believe me, if I had the power, the magazine would never again be late.

The website is Gregg's baby 100%. I have no control over it.

I wish Bob would agree to write for MCM, too. He might have some sort of agreement with Kalmbach where he isn't allowed to do that, though. I don't know for sure...

They have one in particular that I would love to have write for MCM, too... :D

I subscribe to both magazines, so I'm a paying customer to both publications.

This isn't a Harry/Gregg thing...to me this is common sense. It's OK to enjoy both for what they are, but remember who's house you're in. Gregg pays for this site, and the magazine helps support it. The "other" magazine doesn't.

I think it's not too much to ask that some respect be shown to that. Maybe I'm off the reservation on this one...

No. you're exactly on the reservation.

I guess it is true, that an email or post on a forum is really a one-way message!

My original post was not meant to start an arguement, it was merely to say that I am hoping that the next issue of MCM is near and has as much useful (IMO) information as that "other" magazine.

Gregg is kind enough to have this forum for us and I appreciate being able to be a part of it, just like the other forums I frequent.

If I was ticked off about the delays in MCM's issues, why would I continue to renew my subscription? I have been a subscriber to the mag from it's earliest days and I believe I was among the first 100 people here on this forum.

I guess I will lay low and not comment here for awhile. I didn't realize how inflammatory my comments were going to be interpreted, I did try to keep it to a model related topic.

Are you kidding me? You post on the MCM forum how great the latest issue of SA is, and you figured that was cool?

Like Ken said, try and even mention MCM on the SA forum and see how fast the delete hammer comes down on you. Seriously, man... the fact that this thread is even still here should tell you something about the people behind this magazine.

Respect yes......But to ignore SA as the competition is foolish and not good business. Face facts MCM is a business and must run as one. Successful businesses embrace and court the competition...in order to BETTER serve the customer base..that makes advertisers to spend thereby allowing one to increase rates, sell more copy, and yes make some bucks.

I think the thread is provocative reading from some of the replies, and is healthy for this forum / magazine

Would this be allowed "over there"? Of course not...could be why the members there keep dropping....I do not see that as much here???

Yep I subscribe to both, enjoy both, and use both forums......so I disagree with your assessment for the reasons stated

I don't think so. How much "embracing" of MCM do you see over at the SA site?

Harry- scroll up and re-read this thread from the beginning, please. I merely stated that the new SA was out, I thought it was great, and was hopeful that the next MCM would be as well. I did not take a swipe at you or Gregg or trash MCM in any way (IMO). I did not mention ANY articles or items that are in the other magazine, seems you and a few others sidetracked this topic into that area.

I cannot fathom how this has become such a touchy subject, except that YOU have a problem with it.

Good Night!

Good Night!

I do have a problem with someone posting on this forum what a great issue the "other" magazine just put out!

Look, all of us here know that SA exists, and everyone over there knows that MCM exists... and in fact most of us know that they both exist. But I spend a LOT of hours working on this magazine, and monitoring this website. I have a lot of myself invested in MCM, and I don't take too kindly to posts on this forum telling our members what a great issue SA just put out. Yeah, I take it personally. Especially considering what happened over there, and what caused me to leave that forum and join this one.

I know you meant no harm, and I don't mean to jump on you personally. No hard feelings, you didn't mean any harm and I know that. You just hit a sore spot with me.

I don't know or am I familiar with the poster. After futher review I see he is a long standing member,so I woud doubt he would wait four years to do so.But for a quick glance here was my first impression)

My initial thought of the topic was that it was an underhanded advertisement by someone affiliated with the particular product. (I'm not implying that was the motive, just suggesting how someone without a clue would perceive it)

Of course the internet, especially in forum land, alot of topics, posts can be misconstrued since we have no tone, facial expressions or body language to fully interrupt.Luckily we have EDIT!

When it comes to my business I try to smash the competition,no hugs here!

So why should it be allowed here?

You forgot to finish Harry, keep reading I answered that.

Do you think SA is successful???.....C'mon Harry a two bit hack as editor who can't even figgure ROM is modeling at its best.....successful......

Lucky Kalmbach has a host of titles to carry SA........
