cazxr2 Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) This is looking ace as usual I have to say u got some proper tallent there like. How u manage to replicate the gas tank is just amazing. Can't wait to watch the nova. Although al be sad when u finish the chevelle as it's been like a tv series that u just can't miss a singal episode. I've been watching from the start, and it's been great thanks so much for showing us the way. My hat is off to u my friend. Edited July 5, 2010 by cazxr2
Romell R Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) Ok were not done with the Chevelle just yet ! So today while sitting in my office i was able to get the fuel pump and lines hooked up to the tank and run to the front of the car cant complete the hook-up untill the body is on the frame. I also made a in-line pressure gauge and line splitter. enjoy..... I started with a piece of hexagon styrene and flatened it to make a box and then drilled 3 small holes one in each end and one in the middle, this will be the splitter for the fuel lines between the carbs If you look closely you might be able to see the very small pressure gauge i made. (look inside the bottom of photoetch sprue) here I painted the splitter box Tamiya Blue x-4 Edited July 5, 2010 by Aftashox
Romell R Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 Ok for the line itself I used .022 Silver-bearing solder from RadioShack and #1 A-N fittings I usually use sharpie markers to color the A-N fittings I couldnt find my blue one so I used Tamiya clear blue when it came time to color the blue A-N fittings.
Romell R Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) OK now I need to put it all together ...... heres the splitter box gluded to the fuel line that will be comming from the fuel cell... here the assembaly has been pretty much completed. all thats left to do is conect it to the carbs cant really see it good (camera didnt want to focus on the lines) but here it is conected to the carbs. Tony T Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Man, that is some great line work you got going there. Nicely done!
Romell R Posted July 5, 2010 Author Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) Almost left out the pics of the completed lines from the fuel cell. the fuel line holds were made from the same solder the lines were made from I just pressed it flat by rolling my exacto blade handle over it. I couldnt find a fuel pump anywhere so I ended up making one. enjoy..... Edited July 5, 2010 by Aftashox
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 AWESOME!!! I'm taking notes on some of your techniques. I can really learn from them.
Romell R Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Here ya go Jim let me know what you think..... Edited July 6, 2010 by Aftashox
Jim Gibbons Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Ok, cool Romell...gives me something to work with. What I probably wasn't clear about is what the model wheel backs need to be like. That'll be an important part of the CAD drawing. The 1:1 wheel backs aren't worth duplicating, mainly for the $. We'll talk further on it, but with those pics, I could interpolate a pretty close dimensional drawing! I'll send you a sketch with dimensions I'll need.

Jim Gibbons Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Awesome, Romell...I take it you'll have that style steering wheel on your 1:1. One question, though; won't that block reading your instruments? Way over the top, and cooler than dry ice!
Romell R Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 WATCHING YOUR WORK MAKES WE WANT TO DO MORE SCRATCH BUILDING Thats the reason why were here Roy to Inspire and be Inspired.....thx for the compliment buddy!
