charlie8575 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Recently I've seen several models whose chrome and stainless trim were replicated with a silver Sharpie marker. I thought it looked pretty good, better than paint, and I'm thinking of trying it on a couple of cars that are nearing completion. My question is can you put any kind of clear over it to protect it from rubbing off, or even worse, smudging, or will it run on contact with anything like that? Charlie Larkin
Guest old man Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 i use a black sharpie to do the rubber gasket around my window's on my models. well i found out the hard way when i put the clear on. it ran all over the place .so i had to start all over just my exp with it old man
tuffone20 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I didn't have any problem putting clear coat over my wheels After using a marker on them.

I agree no problems, i used black sharpie after the cars colour was done then put a few mist coats of clear on (strictly mist coats if its water based paint) just to seal it but not wet so it will run, i used tamiya acrylics for the paint.

Nick Winter Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Almost all my black trim peices are sharpie, and I clear them without it running everywhere just make sure the marker is dry first.
