Guest willmiller Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I have the firewall that came with my windows xp. I want a better one. What is a VERY good firewall i can download and use for free that dosen't slow down my computer?
MrObsessive Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 You can try Zonealarm which is designed to run on XP. They were supporting 98 SE which I'm still using, but they stopped supporting the software as of the middle of last year. I'm gonna have to bite the bullet this year and get a new computer with an up to date OS! When I had it on my OS, I never had any trouble with it and you can upgrade to better versions of it.............of course the deluxe versions are not free. Click here to check it out. Hope this helps!
Guest zebm1 Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I have tha same problem that Bill does and I 2nd his opinion of ZoneAlarm Pro series for home use. They also have some commercial apps.
Gregg Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Sorry, you guys will hate me, GET A MAC!!!!! Never had a problem, sorry guys :-) I was born on a PC (yes, it hurt) switched to Macs in `97, never looked back..... Firewalls built in, and can be stealth so noone ever knows you there Plus, there's a built in log :-)
Guest zebm1 Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Hehe, tha Z-Pro is also Stealth, logged and automatic daily updates...do yu get that with a Big Mac? Nevah culd keep that special sauce from dripping all over tha place. I started with ZoneAlarm free in 1999, switched to paid version in '02.
Darin Bastedo Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 IIRC correctly the XP Firewall came body color, where as the firewall on 95, 98, and the 98SE were all painted flat black. On these though the inner fenders should still be body color. The ME (millenium edition) the firewalls were body color except on the two tone optioned ones. then they were painted the same color as the roof. and of course the radiator and it's support should always be flat black.
