Those are pretty cool! I had a couple of them when I was a kid.

Back when I was in middle school, we were in a class (I forget what it was.. "Technology" or something to that effect) and we all got to make Pinewood derby style cars that were propelled by CO2 cartridges.

The cars were made of balsa and had a big hole in the back for the cartridge to fit in. We would line them up 2 at a time and there was a little tool that would puncture both at the same time. There were little eye hooks underneath and they would run down fishing line to keep them on the track. We had eliminations until 1 car remained. It was really cool!

My car didn't do so well. I guess this was because I was more concerned about it looking cool than being light and aerodynamic. I made it look like a funny car. It was red with yellow and orange flames on it. Pretty sure I still have it somewhere.
