Squirell Cage Fans

Hey guys, after checking this out in the computer, I can't seem to find one at a fair or good price. Any ideas on prices or where to get an inexpensive one? Can I get something like this in Lowe's or Home Depot? I am trying to build a spray booth and need info on this.

What are you considering a good price? Most of the cost of building your own booth is going to be getting a good, safe fan. If you want to save some money there you can go with a down-draft booth which by design requires a much smaller squirrel cage. I just ordered one from Grainger last week for about $100 for a 273 CFM model (1TDR3) which is plenty for the down-draft booth I'm building. Considering you'll have to drop anywhere from just under $200 to up to a $1000 dollars for a high end one for any paint booth from a company it's a relative bargain.

I would also recommend Grainger, I don't recall the number of mine but it is 485 cfm and I paid around $150. The complete booth cost me $200 so the fan is the primary expense.

Before I sold my home built booth setup to a friend, I used a Boat Bilge cage fan. They are made for toxic fumes and such, They are basically the same as squirrel cage fans. If you have any boat marine stores locally you should be able to find one.

Don't forget sources like Craigslist, local shoppers and the for sale section in your newspaper. You might be able to pick up a used one for very, very short money.
