Hello there.

This is my latest finished model, I usually take my time, like a year with a build, but here was a deadline involved so 200 hours and thet thing was done. It is not what I usually build, but there is an intereting story involved, for those who are interested, read on, who is not, scroll down for pics.

As I owe three vintage cars there is no way that you do everything by yourself, so you meet people, in forums, on carshows, small meetings wherever. About 3 Years ago I met Toby, who is possibly one of the funniest people out there and has more than 2 million miles in old cars and trucks on his "acount". When I met him he was only able to walk with help, and owned (among others) a 124 Merc 200 Diesel for daily transport that he drove with vegetable oil, now he is fully bond to a wheelchair. Few months ago he had to let the Merc go because it slowly wasn't possible to drive (Automatic of course), but he didn't wanted to sell it, so he drove it in his parents barn and just can't sell it. I understand hat, I hate to let my cars go. Once in a while you see pictures of that thing on Facebook, seeing him missing this car so much, I decided that it would be a cool gift, so I simply build it. The real car was white when the dude bought it, as for Toby the only reasonable thing you could do with a "###### car like that" was to sticker UN on it.

The Model itself is a Revell built almost OOB, with some minor detailing and of course adjusted paint scheme, I recreated every single rustspot, stonechip, sticker everything. Even two passports and a map to the Northcap where the car has been can be found.

Enjoy!

Very nice build with an interesting history. Must be nice to be able to buy fuel in a supermarket B) (Boxes labeled Sonnenblumenol = sunflower oil. Nice job on those too, BTW).

What is the significance of the UN lettering on the doors? Diplomat's car?

It's just a joke. Here in Europe people are crazy about white cars, you know, I Pod effect, but this car was built way back before it was "in" to have a white car. Apparently stickerin' UN on it is the only thing you can do to it. People ask about it, and Toby is one of the people that just go along with that, Yes sir, this car was in Somalia escorting humanitarian missions... hehehe... Truth is, the car was owned by an eldery gentleman. Never seen Africa or any conflict.
