Jared Roach Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) Well I'm just wondering, had to do some work to a mini and have used duplicolor scratch filler primer, and now I wanna go with the testors one coat laqer over that, so will it be alright? Just don't want to end up striping it because of the putty and stuff, so please let me know, thanks guys Edited June 10, 2010 by bowtiebadboy333
Madd Trucker Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I just used the new Testors paint over duplicolor primer ona 45 year old AMT 25 ford tall T with a choped top and have good coverage , the primer sat for 3 days after doing the body
85firebird Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Ive used it a few times. Just make sure the primer is completely dry before you apply the paint or it might crack or bubble.
Kaleb Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Yea, I just used and Orange on my mustang it worked fine
LOBBS Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Both the Tamiya and Testors lacquers aren't very "hot" chemically. They were developed specifically for the hobby market and can be sprayed directly over bare styrene. Duplicolor paints by contrast were formulated for the automotive market and are much "hotter" chemically. If you got the Duplicolor on with no problems, spraying the Testors stuff won't present any problems as long as the Duplicolor has had a chance to properly gas out. You can always spray a "cooler" paint over a "warmer" paint as long as that condition is met. For future reference, from hottest to coolest: Automotive paints (Duplicolor) Hobby lacquers (Testors One Coat/Automotive and Tamiya sprays) Hobby enamels (Testors bottles) Hobby acrylics (Testors Acryl/Tamiya jars)
Jared Roach Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 Ok, thanks guys. The primer has been siting for a couple of days, and I still need to ge the paint too, so thanks again.
