BTK Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Well, new modeler/first model. The AMT kit, is actually quite good. I also bought the Revell Sportsman 55' kit, and decided to mend these two together. My plans, are to basically build a pro mod, out of the unusual. So, I'm going to quit talking and just post some pictures... The two models... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=post§ion=post&do=new_post&f=23 Rigging up the stance I want. And, I had the sudden misfortune. My 2 pound guard dog, decided he would take out his anger on Pontiac Headed Big Block. I hope no parts are missing. Working with the house wire. Hopefully, a 15 year old can build something cool.
brett Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 why not just use the top sportsman kit frame and floor ? not sure off hand about the wheelbase difference but its easy enough just to cut and modify the front of the frame to length. check out mine here if you want http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v392/awesome55/doorslammers/ most of these use modified ts frames. Gonna follow this one along so shout out if you want/need help Brett
David G. Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 You can absolutely build something cool. This hobby is a balance of what we want to accomplish and what we can accomplish. Just plan out what you want to do and take your time working through it, and you'll come up with something cool. Also, realize that each kit you build is really only practice for the next one. Don't be afraid to admit there's something you don't know how to do yet. Most of the folks in this community are very happy to help with any tips or information, and love to share their knowledge. Most of us (at least I) have more respect for someone who can admit a weakness and ask for help, than someone who pretends to know everything! Keep up the good work, we need more young folks like you in this hobby! David G.

First off, great looking models in there, I actually intended to use the sportsman frame and floor. There is a slight wheelbase difference, maybe 1/2" difference, I haven't started cutting it yet, but it's next on my list. Also, thank you for the kind word's David. I know this hobby isn't as popular with the younger folks in my area, I hope more do catch on though. Thanks for the advice. -Skylar.
