hi y'all! im obviously new here but ive been building models since i was about 7. im 20 now and i still love building them. i have some great pics of my currently built models but being as i have no computer and im doing this on my phone i cant post them lol. but i will soon. anyways, im looking to start like a t bucket (no particular year) or model a coupe with a airplane motor (preferablly a alison or merlin V12). but my only problems is i've never once in my life built a plane model and on all the boxes at micheal's they dont show wether or not if they come with a motor you build or if its just a body. i dont shop online because i dont have a cc or paypal and i dont know where to order the parts. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thank you!

EDIT: ok so hopefully these pictures will load up. here you guys go! i hope y'all enjoy and im open for any criticism or comments.

Not often and not in the correct scale, unless you get a very pricey 1.24 scale kit.

You are best off looking around for the parts pak with the Alison engine in it. IIRC it was Revell. I am sure someone will correct me and leave more details.

There ARE 24th scale aircraftthat come with Allison and Merlin engines, but as was mentioned already, the get rather pricey! The New Airfix De Havilland Mosquito comes with TWO merlin/rolls royce engines! Your best bet it the new AMT/round2 Parts pack that comes with a 25 T bucket body AND an Allison V-12! Kill yerself 2 birds with one stone! Hope this helps a little.biggrin.gifwink.gif

Model Roundup has them, about $33 not counting shipping. It incluses not only the engine and body you're looking for, but a chassis as well as the other engines from the old AMT Parts Packs, a Smallblock Chevy, a Pontiac, 392 Hemi, and a Corvair engine. I've spotted them at Hobbytown, too.

Odds are, your local library has computers you can use. Bring a pencil & paper, write down the vendors phone #, mailing address, and Item # of what you want. Also get the price and their shipping charge, but you can always get that over the phone.

Then go get a Money Order for the exact amount (there will be a dollar or more transaction fee) at your local Post Office, or supermarket.

Then sit back grinnin' like the proverbial Cheshire Cat waiting for the delivery man to show up!

Brandon,

Welcome to the board! There is a LOT of knowledge here. Ask and you'll get responses.

Some info that might help in the long run:

Best non-chain hobby shop in AZ happens to be in Tempe. Hobby Depot. 216 W. Southern

A model swap meet that happens 3 times a year happens next on July 10th at the Postal Worker Hall. 3720 West Greenway Road

August 4-7 at Phonix Convention Center: IPMS Natl Convention with the world's largest "hobby shop" (over 260 vendors tables sold out) and an expected 2000 contest entries
