Karmodeler2 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I hope this helps you to see the runway...that is really there.
Harold Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 The Jeep photo is obviously a fake. The plane? I would think so, too. "Ladeesh and Gentle Ben, we're making our twelf shtep approash into Harry's back yard *hic*." (sorry. I made up this line for a previous post, but this seemes appropriate.)
tuffone20 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 That Jeep thing might be fake but there are some trails like that here in AZ. My dad took a truck on one as a kid on Mt.Ord but they have since cut into the mountain to widen it. Also the back way from Lake Pleasant to Crown King has one spot that is very narrow with a cliff if you are in a full size truck. A very cool trail if you have a quad. I did it on a 3 wheeler. Crown King is a small town in the middle of a mountain top with a hotel a couple shacks and a bar When I was doing my out of town route we had some time to kill and I thought it would be cool to drive up there and check it out! Well 2 hours later we were just getting into the town and there wasn't a clean spot on my truck anywhere!!! And some parts of the road are for one truck at a time and some of those have blind spots going into them. Next time I go it will be in a 4 wheel truck!!
highway Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 time for a 378,345 point turn!!!! :D Or a couple 360s down the hill!

On some of the rougher parts it sounded like a drum solo in the back of the truck. I played at the bar there lots of times and always hated the drive especially on the way home in the dark. Thanks for the memories of that "road". The tunnel always made me slow up and wait and watch and try to listen for another vehicle coming the other way. Nights it was easier because of headlights. Thanks, your fellow Valley of the Sun modeler, Patrick
B_rad88 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 thats nothing, go watch Top Gear Bolivia special, Jeremy drives a land rover more on the very edge tring to pass a car, now that was hair raiser! here is a pic of jeremy on death road: here is a video clip of it: and to see more of the death road in bolivia follow this link: Death Road

Thanks, your fellow Valley of the Sun modeler, Patrick Sweet! I aspire to be a drummer but I am no good I have a set. Yeah the dirt road with switchback leading to I-17 is just fun if you know what your doing. The one from there to lake pleasent is crazy like this. I actually sent a 3 wheeler over the edge once. It got stuck in between 2 trees. We made a human chain with our arms and got it back. I messed up all the plastic, handle bar, headlight and such but It still ran. I finished to Crown King and back to the Lake. Oh and that was a little Honda 110 Sorry if this is a thread jack people This Jeep picture reminds me of fun times on roads like this.
jbwelda Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 i would bet that jeep photo is real. ive been in similar spots with my land cruiser though its about 1 foot narrower and will not even blink going up roads like that
