Jim, the VW you saw, had a front windshield? Thank you! Basically I finished the body, I need to find out how I can keep the rear hood open, and it be ready for paint. Thank you for looking!
TurboKitty Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 what a cute little car! I've been wanting to build a classic Beetle too, I didn't know they made a Convt. kit, lol.

Brizio Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Forgot the pics. Here ready for the primer...
Jim Gibbons Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 No, the one I saw didn't have any glass, as it was strictly a show car and not street legal. It did have head and tail lights, though. I can't remember if it had the front parking lights on the top of the fenders, but I doubt it. The picture you posted of it at the VW stand doesn't appear to have them. I'm not sure if the lights were even wired up.

I think to put the front windshield on the model, and make it street legal, but I don't like the parking light on the fenders, and I'm not sure on the tail light, I will put them, but probably a different tail light, the one on the kit are big... Today I got the chance to primer it and paint it, in white. Tomorrow I will spray some clear gloss and start to work on the engine.
MoparWoman Jamie Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Man, you got some wire bending skills going on there with this build. I down right love it! LOL Keep the photos coming if you would please.

Brizio Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Here one of the last progress... Now it need some detail works to be finish. The pedals and stick gear... Brake line done, this is on the rear, also you can see the trans lever. Here another fitting test... I painted it in white, but adding a little bit of yellow... I think looks better than pure white... And here what I'm working on... Finally the engine... Need some to be completed, but it is almost done...
Dr. Cranky Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Pure eye candy, I love it. Thanks for sharing it.

Brizio Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 I had some fun this morning scratch building some stuff... The first was a gas tank, on the kit is not included. And a battery... Here the gas tank in place, with a brake fluid tank. Also add the front light (without lens) and wire them. This is the battery in place... The steering wheels is not very good, you can see it require a lot of cleaning from the mold... So I look on my spare parts, and found this one. IIRC it is from a 1/32 Impala... The diameter is the same, and looks more better. So I will use it. I had some fun this morning scratch building some stuff... The first was a gas tank, on the kit is not included. And a battery... Brizio Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Forgot, that also the engine is almost done... It need only pipes...
Jim Gibbons Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Way cool...I only have one comment on your engine compartment; you've included the heater ducts, which would be a little ineffectual on this car! You've already built a gas tank, and you're using the Revell chassis, so that works. I think the old IMC/ Union reissue Beetle had a fully detailed chassis (my memory is a bit dim...built the IMC version in the early '70s) so if you ever want those details, that's the chassis to use. That really doesn't matter, however; this is looking great!
Tony T Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Very nice progress on this! Looks great in white/yellow!

Or leave, who knows, maybe with all those drafts of cold air, some warm air will help!!! About the chassis the IMC would be great, but I'm almost done with this, and I had this kit... But good to know, who knows in the future, maybe made another one... On 7/28/2010 at 11:29 PM, Tony T said: Very nice progress on this! Looks great in white/yellow! Thank you Tony! I like it too!
Brizio Posted July 30, 2010 Author Posted July 30, 2010 I'm pretty close to finish this one! Today I finish the new "seats"... I made them like the outdoor furniture, I think those looks better on a wrought iron VW... Painted in the same color of the body... And finally glued on the interior... I modified a little bit the rear bench. Here I add a kind of pillow... It will add more comfort...
