lowriderphil Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Real car is painted pearl white with a salmon colored button tuck interior, fat whites and red steelies with chrome beauty rings and lake pipes. Gonna use the custom catalina interior. It has a 409 but mostly stock under the hood and real clean. Just painted on Saturday, still needs to be cleared.
DRG Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Back in 1966 a friend of mine had a 62 convertible with a 409 4 speed in it. He had it painted Marina Blue, had the interior rolled and pleated and put Keystone Mags on it. A lot of great memories.
W-409 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 This is going to be nice! Very low and I'm very happy that there are no pling pling wheels, I mean bigger than 15'' with low profile tires! Those are very good choice to this, 409 in it...?
lowriderphil Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 got a little work in tonight, engine is nearly complete, just gotta paint the air cleaner. trim rings and lugnuts are painted, not sure yet what to do about the chrome bullet center caps phil
horsepower Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I knew a local guy that had one of these new, in 62, with the 425 H.P. 4-speed version, at that time it put the CHP cars in shame mode. Just a small detail but his came with silvr painted valve covers.
lowriderphil Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 suspension is installed, wheels installed, and now ready to start the interior. Still gotta wetsand the body and repaint and clear the hood, fell on the ground when I cleared it so its being stripped. This will be the final ride height.
W-409 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 It's very nice to see that engine. It looks very good and detailing looks nice. Good stance, I like it!
lowriderphil Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 It's very nice to see that engine. It looks very good and detailing looks nice. Good stance, I like it! thanks, I did the best I could with what I had available, still need to add a few hoses once installed.
Jim0205 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Looks good with the ride height, cant wait to see the foil done on this.
lowriderphil Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 got some exhaust work done, painted after pics were taken phil
lowriderphil Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 started polishing and thanks to 716 LAYIN LOW the wheels are done, might touch up the trim rings
lowriderphil Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 Just finished waxing with Mequires cleaner wax, when I get some more bench time I follow up with deep crystal wax, followed by swirl-X then foil it. phil
MILD Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 G'day Phil. I'm curious as to what diametre brass tube was used for the end pipes? It's a fantastic addition to the model.
lowriderphil Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 G'day Phil. I'm curious as to what diametre brass tube was used for the end pipes? It's a fantastic addition to the model. I believe it was around 3/32" tubing
lowriderphil Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 interior is done shy of clearing the dashboard
Tom Kren Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Cool Now is that the new revell kit and is that the ride height or did you lower it?
lowriderphil Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 Cool Now is that the new revell kit and is that the ride height or did you lower it? Yes, new revell kit, yes I lowered it, the front I moved the axle pin hole up around 3/32", an the rear I lowered the springs until the tops of the tires touched the wheel wells. If I slap some wires and 5.20's on it it would probably lay the frame.
Tom Kren Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Thanks! Thats the way I want mine to sit if I ever get around to build it!
DRG Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 The engine is looking good. The ride height is perfect. The interior is looking great. The body is perfection. great job.
lowriderphil Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 I have finished all the waxing finally, the body has been washed of all wax residue and is now ready for foil. I tried to capture the green pearl in a video but I don't think it shows too well.
lowriderphil Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 I'm in the home stretch now. Just gotta foil and install glass then its on to final assembly. phil
W-409 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Looking good, interior is very good looking and engine detaling looks super! Very good job, can't wait to see this in under glass section...!
