brett Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 or should that be chevrolret altered for dragracing lol. sorry. Right my question here is,are the Monogram plum crazy57 chev fc and the Revell Tom McEwen 57 the same or differnt tools? I have a plum crazy already and arent completly impressed with it and have the oppitunity to purchase the McEwen but theres no point if its the same, thanks for any help.
mageckman Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 They are most definately not the same kit. I have had both in the past and would definately recommend the McEwen kit. Hope this helps.
iBorg Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 The McEwen kit is a replica of Tom's '57 exhibition car on the late Monogram funny car chassis. The Plum Crazy dates back to the 70's. It has a variation of the Snake/Mongoose chassis (I think) and the body looks more stock (still far from stock) than the McEwen body. I think you could make a pretty good body from the Plum Crazy but it requires some modification to reduce its bulk for example around the blower. Mike
Fuel Coupe Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 to Add to Iborg's statement. The Monogram chassis were actually pretty accurate. the 57 bodies were however a bit "fat"
Greg Myers Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I was looking at the Plum Crazy kit in my stash the other day wondering what to do with it. 1) Try to get a decent build out of it, detail etc. 2) Build it right out of the box, no paint. 3) Build it right out of the box with paint 4) Build it right out of the box with paint and BMF. 5) Just leave it alone, it's survived this long.
