DRG Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 It has been a looooong time since I have built any models so this one was a real fun build for me. It is very similar to the style of models available back in the sixties. I tried posting pictures but a window came up telling me the file was to big so I did it this way. There are mistakes and some parts were missing but I am satisfied for now. I hope to get better as time goes on. http://public.fotki....965-pontiac-22/
george 53 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) You did a REAL nice job on it Dan. You DO know that to make an ACCURATE 2+2 out that kit, you HAVETA remove about 3 scale scale inches from that kit. Use the custom rear tailight panel to replicate the PROPER tailights on it, and relocate the rear wheelwells once you've shortened the body. OR you can wait till my blood Ariel Hernandez comes out with his cast version of a PROPER 65 2+2 (which i mastered the body on) comes out. it's been in the works now for a while, but i think the wait will be worth it, he's added all the little things I couldn't, like proper 2+2 markinings and associated details. Yours came out NICE! I RELLY like the color! Edited July 31, 2010 by george 53
charlie8575 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 That kit was based off the 1965 Bonneville, which is a 1960s-vintage kit. It was so panned for the goofs, that AMT very quickly put it back to its original configuration. It would've been better to base it on the Grand Prix, which was already on the Catalina chassis (121 vs. 124-inch wheelbase, I think.)The Bonneville is a very good kit, I have one or two of them. That aside, you did a nice job with it. For the first one in a long time, it came out well. Please share more work with us as you complete it. An accurate 2+2, George? Tell us more. Charlie Larkin
