Okay, I started a thread over on a club I'm on with this build over 6 months ago.. well I thought maybe some of you all that are Dukeys might like to see the build also over here. But for the start of the build you can find it here though http://www.cglfc.com/wforum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24901 as there is to many photos to carry over to here. LOL

But to fill you in on this project, I'm building it as a replica of the real Lee3 from on the tv series Dukes of Hazzard. The real car was only 9 years old when it was on the Dukes back in the fall of 1978. (Now before I get the issue about the doors LOL. the story line was the doors was welded shut, BUT in real life the doors was not, in fact there is photos) Also Lee3 was the most photographed car for the promo shots back then, it was the car that had Bo and Luke leaning agenst the car and Daisy on the roof, it was also the same one on the back of the vhs cover with the door open with Bo and Luke behind the door.

Now so you all know what I'm talking about below, I had a flour bath a month back LOL, I was washing the model car shell off in the kitchen, when a bag of flour I had up in my cabinet fell out of the cabinet and landed right next to me on the counter top and when it hit the side broke open and thrown flour all over the counter top, me, and the model that I had in my hand LOL, the motor was on the sink yet just about 3 from where the flour bag landed. yep the motor took a direct hit to like the shell that was right next to me on the sink top setting as I was turning around when the bag of flour fell out of the cabinet and made the mess.

I'm still cleaning parts that has flour on yet.. that stuff can make a mess in a sec. I'm also working on weathering the chassis alittle more in certain spots. The engine was hit with flour also so I been using a dry kids brush to brush it clean and also do weathering on it alittle yet. Yea, I know, I still have to weather the tranny yet for one place.

Considering what the cars from that show went through that chassis should be spot on. It looks great and realistic for mud puddle splashing and dirt road fun. Don't forget some scraches where a cross member or low part of the frame would bottom out. I know you said you need to weather the trans but I'd add a bit of mud on those( very nicely done by the way) brake lines. This is looking fantastic great work and keep up the progress.

Hi you all, well here's an update. Sorry about some of the photos, got a new camera and are having focus issues with it.

Anyways

Lee3

This model had a bad week kinda, I had to repair the roof in the model room work area, and things got alittle dirty even inside box's. then the box this model was in fell over onto it's side. I wanted to repair afew things on this build anyways so I figure dismantle the interior tub and clean it out sense dust got in there real good.

Anyways here is some after photos.

I decided to add the grain to the consol. I knew a trick on how to pull this off. It's a two part stage really. No vinyl model paint was used at all either that you can buy.

I'm no General Lee expert, but shouldn't it have an automatic transmission since the console is for an automatic? :) I can vaguely remember the show, but I'm pretty sure the General Lee was an automatic. Not a critique, just wondering.

I had to remove the shifter to redo the consol. I have the shifter and all, just have to re-attach it is all and finish the consol up. I know alot about the charger's from on the show and how some of them was set up for afew things as well. I said show as tv series :) . I also know stuff about the 05 movie cars as well.

Yes the General on the show did have an automatic. The sound effect you heard was from the sound track they used in the movie Bullitt though.

so, excuse my ignorance, but what's w/ the green? In my opinion, you've NAILED the look of old weathered Copper perfectly. It appears that you've made the chassis look like it was completely made out of copper. Explanation?

You ask a legit question. I will answer the best as I can. The green is the factory color that the real car came with from the well the factory. You see I do my model builds with a factory color first & if I know what the correct color is/was I go with that. In this case I knew what factory color the real Lee3 was. You see the cars on the show was never ever strip of paint and then repainted orange, they was painted orange right over the factory color. By doing this, it also played a big part in why the car oranges also looked different all the time because it was do to what ever the factory color of the car originally was under that orange paint job on those cars. They built alot of the General's in 8 hours flat.

The chassis on the Lee3 model here I painted green, then weathered it to give it that ran hard and down those back dirt roads and over land where the car would more like bottom out here or there at times. You know give it that used and weathered look like any old car out there that are 10 years old would look like under sided.

Ok, please don't take this the wrong way (or get butt-hurt); you do an excellent job of weathering and go to all the trouble of adding carpet detail, brake line detail, and plug wire detail only to leave mold parting lines on the exhaust, trans, and rear end? Seems to be counter to your build. You go to length adding detail only to skip basic parts prep. The weathering is very convincing, too bad the mold separation lines immediately give it away as a model. Keep building as I want to see how this Lee3 comes to pass.

I do want to thank you for being honest and giving your view as well. I don't think I side it before or maybe I went to but for got to. I'm still working on weathering the chassis yet with alittle more detail. But with the things you just address here I will take into consideration when working on the chassis before long. I will keep sharing the photos on here as I progress through the build.

I think it is looking great but the only General Lee I remember was the

good ole one.

Guess since I've only watched it once and that is when it first came out

I'm learning more about it every day.

Hi you all, well the last few days I took and cleaned up the dash, and also did some work to the consol top as well, it still needs finish yet though.
