DrewCfromSC Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Hello all, im trying to relive my youth. Im getting togather parts, supplies to build a replica 1980-84 style NDRA dirt track car. It will be simular to style as this one pictured. Im thinking of buying some sheet styreen for the body. What thickness do you recomend? o1o,020 or? Thanks for your replies.
Foxer Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Most injected molded bodies come in at around .04" thick. This is a common thickness of available sheet plastic and I'd say it's a good place to start making the body you want. It's thick enough to hold it's shape in large flat panels and thin enough that it won't look any more out of scale than the bodies we get in kits. Thinning exposed edges to look more to scale will also help.
