Hi gang, I'm new at this and new at computers, but not new to this world! (a-young-at-heart-53) I've worked my tail off all my life and never really given myself much time to have fun. Cars among other things are fun. Model cars are relatively the cheaper option to full scale. I've built a few, but never really the ones I want the most. Rare as blazes, of course, if even avail. I've met Barbo, and Gregg via e-mail and you guys seem like a fun crowd to start my 'retirement' hobbies. I am about to start assembling a large diorama of a typical farmyard setting of our farm when I was a kid (atually, tsk tsk I still am a kid, just a tweak older). My immagination has run wild for along while and now that I found a forum on model dioramas and cars, I'm off to the races. Oh yeah, I'm not yet retired--can't afford--still feeding 3 kids, but in my mind I know where to begin setting some fun priorities!! Barbo is helping me find a 65, and 66 Buick wildcat; a67 sport fury three, a 36 chevy, for starters. Cheers, Manfred

we've accumulated quite a collection of Canadians! which leads me to another question; sending parts to and from the great white north! i sent a set of tires to a member in Nova Scotia by the Mail 1st class postage because i priced UPS to do it and they wanted 16 dollars! Is this something we deal with everyday?

perhaps someone who lives close enough to the border could act as a blind box and carry these items to a Canadian Post Office? it would be a matter of that person trusting us to send only model car parts, and i could see some hesitation given these days and times.

hmmf; 16 bucks to send 4 little vinyl tires.... yeeeeesh.

.....hmmmmm.....yeah,...I'm not sure what to do about that? I DO live only 9 miles fron the Idaho border crossing so if there is a way to scoot things across the border, I'm all ears. Nobody wants to be saddled with nasty border fees, however I'm on the straight and narrow, so if it is unavoidable, Que sera sera. Manfred----I'll look into that

i didn't think it was all that difficult to post to Canada. I've never had any trouble, it was quick either way and not that costly. Now, Australia...that's a whole 'nuther animal.

Yeah, finding out about that "border crossing fee" kinda blew what little mind i have left. i'm just hoping the timely delivery of the mail isn't deterrred by sleet snow dark of night etc!

Hi gang, the 68 Fury arrived yesterday and I was asked topay $12 something to retrieve it. altogether I payed close to seventy for a model that had no engine, Tranny, parts list, and I'm sure other parts I don't know about. Aw I don't know. I needed a 67 and I'm transforming a 68 somehow, but I need to scrap an easier-to-get model of same wheelbase to get the parts I need. A n assembly sheet would be handy. It's all part of the game. sometimes it gets expensive. I'll have some pics once I get the cars finished, Barbo and others. Manfred

As another one of those Canadians.

If you are sending anything across the border do it via the US post office. There is an agreement between our two post offices, ie to send items between two people as opposed to groups such as UPS who see it as an opportunity to gouge people on both sides of the border. And it has been my experience that items arrive just about as quick via the P.O.

A lot of mail order firms in the US have lost my business because they will send only via the courier style outfits.

Of course, send thru USPS or Canada Post. No worries, no problems. I sent Steve stuff and he sent me stuff and we had no trouble. I just bought a model from an outfit in BC and they sent it thru USPS, but I think they crossed the border to Washington to do it.
