Monty Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 You may spell your first name wrong, but ya sure build some nice models. I've got one of those Eldorados on my to-do list so it's encouraging to see how nicely they can turn out when done by a good builder. Looks like you did some impressive detail work on the speedometer. Would you care to share your technique? Thanks again for posting these pics. I hope mine turns out that nice.

Monty, Here's two methods to try. Method 1 : I use this one mostly. Paint the background first. Most of the time that's black but, Some older cars are white and a person could get creative with a custom colored dash. Use a very small brush. VERY IMPORTANT !! Light is your friend. Make sure you can read the numbers and see the spaces in between. Kit quality comes into play here. When painting the numbers a very small amount of paint will work. Lightly brush the numbers so they turn white slowly. Latex works better than enamel because the latex drys faster. The brushing the numbers is like trying to brush the brush dry. Method 2 : Some say this is easier. Paint the numbers first. Yes, then backwash the black background like you would the grill on the front of the car. You can make thinned black. I start with a new bottle of black. Pour around a 1/3 of it out and fill with thinner. Some like it thinner than that. Make yours to suit you. Two choices to more detail. Hope this helps, Roger
The Modeling Hermit Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 This is another beautiful build. I'm going to have to try your dash method. Mine has been to paint the background and then use colored pencils to do the detail.
