All the parts took a bath in the mild detergent water.

Good for you buddy. Slow and steady and taking time for prep will really help the quality of the finished build. Keep us posted.

Uh...That might be a problem.

The paint I chose wants to run off and bubble up on the plastic.

Is there anything I can get to remove the paint from the plastic without harming it at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby?

brake fluid or purple power ....u can get this stuff at walmart and part stores....let soak like 4 to 8 hrs..then check it ...also it sounds like ur holdin the can to close the body or laing to thick of a coat ...try holdin the can 8 to 10 inches away from the body an do thin lite coats 2 or 3 times....that shoud work out better for ya

Too bad about the paintwork. It does sound like your holding the can too close or spraying a heavy coat. Just like mopar01lee said, spray in light coats. Also remember that your spraying a metallic color. If you spray the coats too heavy, the metallic particles will have a tendency to pull away from sharp edges like door and panel lines. Keep up the good work, I'll be watching this one B)

I decided to do a little story with this car as mrmike did with McNally. :)

The Story

As Lanye signs the final peice of documentation for his new '69 Charger Daytona the sales rep brings him the keys. Lanye hands the sales rep the documentation and walk outside to his new Charger.

The Build

The parts have been in the purple pond for about two days now,and the paint is slowly peeling away.

Brandon, now that you have added a story line to your build, use it as an influence for your build. It would help immensely if your story was complete before the build continues so you don't end up changing details in the story later becuase of changes needed for the build. Keep at it!

The Story

As Layne pulls away from the dealership,he marvels at the power of the 440 Magnum. Then it hits him,the dealership only filled the tank enough to get him five miles. So he stoppes at at small service station to top off the tank.

The Build

The parts came out of the purple pond today with nearly all the paint stipped.

The Story

After Layne fills the tank he heads off to find a Hobby Shop,so he can get some Testors paint and some other goodies.
