Reeves Racing Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) This is a third of the MPC (AMT) Indy 500 Legends tri-kit. Mostly Box Stock with parts box tires and aftermarket tire decals. Paint is Testers One Coat Lacquer "White Lighting" and "Star-spangled Blue" topped with "Wet Look" Clear. I also used various shades of Alclad II and Krylon Dull Silver. The engine is wired. This is a tough little kit. It could be a lot nicer with a builder with more patience and skill than me be but it turned out pretty good. I could pick it apart because there are several issues with the build, in other words my hands and skill didn't live up to what I saw in my mind for this build. Rob Hall Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Beautiful build. I'd love to see that kit reissued. I have an unbuilt AMT Lotus kit to build eventually, would like this one to go with it.
Guest Johnny Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Love the old Indy Cars! Youhave done a fantastic job on it! I would love to see them reproduced again! The only one of that era I really saw was in an old run down garage across from where my grandpa worked. We were coming home from fishing one day and he pulled in the drive. He had me go look thtough the dirty glass panes of the old wooden doors and there in the middle of the shop area was this Race car sitting on flats covered in a heavy layer of dust so thick you couldn't read the number on it! It was still in there 10 years later althogh the buildings roof had fallen in. Someone eventually tore it down. I often wonder what became of that old Indy car, did it ever race and who it belonged to!
