gasman Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 can anyone out there recommend a good airbrush for under $30, my Testors "Blue Ice" one died and am looking for a basic good replacement. does'nt have to be dual action, I just use it to paint basic stuff, not body's or big stuff like that
MonoPed Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Not sure if it's under $30 or not, but the Paasche H is a solid single action airbrush that's not alot of $$
mikemodeler Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 If you have a Michael's nearby, check their ad and take the 40% off coupon in and get yourself a new airbrush there! A $50 airbrush would be $30 with the coupon. Also might want to check Hobby Lobby on line as you can usually get a coupon to use at the store. Same deal as Michael's. You might also want to check Micromark as they run sales all the time and just might have a bargain airbrush. Never tried the "El Cheapo" that Wal- Mart sells but that might be a option too. MadKawDisease Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Try www.stores.ebay.com/paintgraphics for Iwata airbrushes.
MadKawDisease Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Just a thought, Some times its better to invest a little more in a tool knowing that you may never have to replace it again than it is if you have to keep replaceing cheeper tools and ultimently paying more in the long run.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Not sure if it's under $30 or not, but the Paasche H is a solid single action airbrush that's not alot of $$ Here's an Ebay store that has the Paasche H for about $37 shipped. http://cgi.ebay.com/PAASCHE-AIRBRUSH-PAINT...oQQcmdZViewItem I'm thinking about buying one of these myself.
dirty_j Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Try www.stores.ebay.com/paintgraphics for Iwata airbrushes. good luck finding an iwata for under $30. even the knock-offs go for more than that. you could probably find a paasche in your price range; they're not the best but imo they're better than the badger s/a brushes.
DaveInTheHat Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I've been using a Paasche H that I bought 30 years ago. The only problems I ever had was wearing the set screw out. I have a couple other different kinds of airbrushes, but I seem to use the old beat up one the most. It's easy to clean and very tough. I've dropped it, left it dirty and really abused it. I would recommend getting quick disconnects, a vapor trap, and a good air compressor with a tank. The little air brush compressors give out pulsating air and it's hard to regulate the pressure. I got a compressor from Pep Boys with a 2 gallon tank for $60. I should have gotten one with a 4 gallon tank so the compressor doesn't kick on as often.
Modelmartin Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Add my vote for the Paasche H. You won't find a more reliable, easy to use, and adjustable airbrush. Mine is going on 25+ years now. Gerald Wingrove used a Paasche H. 'Nuff said.
