Me Three :) .

Maybe I shouldn't mention this, but I have one on the shelf that's still sealed inside. I think I found mine at a show cheap and had to have it for the memories, too. It was also one from my early years of building, too.

Ah, Na.. it's okay to mention it :) .

My first model car was a Ford Galaxie 500 with mutipiece body. As I remember, it had the complete interior molded into the body and I had to glue the sides and top onto it. I left it mostly white, but used a magic marker to put a big "Iron Cross" on the roof! I was 5 at the time. My inspiration was my cousin, who built everything from cars to planes to ships and who finally got tired of me breaking his models every time I'd visit. He took me to the store and bought me one so I'd leave his kits alone! I think about him every time I start a new kit. Thanks, Mikey!

My first model was the 1/24 Monogram Ferrari 275P that could be used as a slot car body or simple kit. My second was an Aurora B-47 I received as a Christmas grab bag gift. I painted it with Testor's silver with gloss black tires and details. It was a goopy looking mess, but to my 8 year old eyes, it was the best airplane model ever! That was followed by a really early 1/48 P-51D model. I have no idea as to the manufacturer, but it must have dated from the early '50s. My father had it sitting in the attic for years, and gave it to me to build. It had a grand total of nine parts; propeller, prop retainer, two fuselage halves, pilot figure that mounted to a "bridge" seat molded in each half, two stabilizers, clear canopy, and a one piece solid wing. It was molded in grey, but the pilot figure was a brownish maroon similar to bakelite.

After those kits came a series of models that were sold in packaging that looked like matchbooks. Eldon seems to stick in my head. I built a Spitfire, ME-109, Spad, and Albatross. They also had cars which were no more that HO scale racing bodies with soft plastic wheels and interiors, detailed chassis plate, and metal axles and screws to hold the works together. (Not unlike Mini Lindys of which I spent a share of my allowance on.) I built a '68 Camaro and Dodge Charger. I built the cars a little later in my building history. After the matchbook aircraft, I built a 1/24 Hawk Mercedes Benz W163 prewar Grand Prix car. That was neat, as it had a display base you could wire the model to, with a separate engine to mount on it. There was a decal with the specs. You could even hang it on the wall as a hole was provided. That was followed by a Renwall dual kit set of a 1/48 '48 Lincoln Continental and Bugatti. I still have the Conti on a shelf above my computer. My next was the 1/24 Monogram Mercedes Benz 540K molded in red, black, and white.

I'm one of those eidetic memory folks; I could likely give a fairly accurate timeline and listing of every model I ever built. Guess I'm a bit of a mutant! I could never forget my first model any differently than my first bike ride, first drive, and the first time I got (you fill in the blank! :) ) Man, I'm weird!

I do not remember my first one but I do remember building in the late 50's. Not having spray paint my brothers and I would sand the mold lines and any trim off of them then polish the bodies with rubbing compound until shiny.

I do still have several I built in the 60's while in High School.

My first model CAR was Revells 56 Chrysler. I was 6 and my big brother bought it for me. It had the seperate sides, roof, trunk, and hood. It didn't go together very well, but it was my first one. That was April 1st, 1959, my 6th birthday. I've been steady building ever since.;)

I have that Chrysler model; mine is molded in light green. I'll post it when complete. I happen to like those 1/32 kits. I also have the '55 which is giving me fits. It has warped parts, and I'm trying to get it to work decently. It's missing one grille side which has made me put it on the far back burner.

Jim, I bought the re-issue that came out several years ago, from the revell SSP series. I opened it up when i got home, and man, the memories sure came back! It's nice to be able to build (some of) those old cars from my childhood.;) ;)

My earliest modeling memory is painting the turn signals on that black Trans-Am that has popped up a couple times in this thread, but I know I didn't build it, it was either my brother or cousin.

I don't remember my first model, but I do remember my first Tamiya model, now that was the start of a real love affair B);) It was the 1/35 German WWII 8-ton Halftrack w/ Flakvierling

My first Tamiya car model was the 1/20 Williams FW11, and my first Tamiya motorcycle was the 1/12 Ducati 900 NCR Racer - which has to this day remained my all-time favorite model. I have the recent re-issue of this kit (w/ Cartograf decals) on the pile right now.

My first model was a tank, got it for Christmas around eight years old I still have it today. I remember painting it green, and it was not the olive drab style other but a bright green which was my favorite color at the time. Shortly after that I got a Monogram 57 Chevy, I also still have, also painted the same green as the tank, same bottle of paint I believe.

I found my Uncle Tony's stash of model RR homes.

I cracked the seal on one that looked neat, and snapped it

together.

He never got mad, instead? He took me to the local drug

store, and had me pick out one.

I don't remember what it was.

That was the beginning!

Motorcycles! Cars! Trucks! Airplanes!

My Dad liked sail ship's, and air planes.

My Aunt bought all the paints and glue for me.

My Mom was encouraging as well. and... she

stopped buying me barbie dolls! (LoL!!!)

She bought my sister the invisible woman.

I remember my sister painting the spleen and gallbladder!

according to the instructions.

Ah, I wouldn't change anything if I had the

chance to do it all over again.!

:unsure::rolleyes::lol:

Several 72nd scale ww2 planes most being blownup while suspended from the rotary clothes line by the biggest fire crackers I could find (though this was usually after bits had broken or fallen off them first) Did a few amt big rigs in my mid teens as my oldest brother was quite a truck builder and 1st car would have been the amt 57 chev older tool (about 85/6) which i still have in my cabinet, pretty rough brush painted (almost dayglo orange).

I started off with airplanes ( My Dad was the club officer at Edwards AFB,during the first run of "X" planes 1-15) so airplanes it was for awhile untill our move to a bomber base in England in the late fiftys. First car from Monogram and I remember seeing those first AMT hot rods on the shelf but the Long Johnlongjohn.jpg was more flashy.

Very unscientific survey and observation here, but I think it's interesting that 30 "1st model car/truck" responses have been posted here and three (3) of them were the same kit: the AMT/Revell 1/32nd scale 1956 Chrysler customizing kit! B)

Apparently that series really struck a chord and inspired some modellers!
