Ben Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 (edited) To my knowledge, nobody has offered a Turbo conversion setup for the AMT Cat 3208 naturally aspirated engine and since I'm wanting one for a Ford C900 "Roadway" tractor project I've been wanting to build. I figured I build one. Along the way I also noticed that AMT messed up by making a "right and left" cylinder head and valve cover. The real engine uses the same head and valve cover on both sides, so I robbed another head and valve cover from another kit. I still need to scratch build the correct injection pump and do some finessing and then it will be sent out to be cast. In progress pics can be seen here, in my Cat 3208T album. www.public.fotki.com/lotso Edited September 27, 2010 by Ben

The way it will be cast, as far as what parts will be included, it could be used in any truck. I personally have wanted one to put in a Ford C900 tractor.
Nova-ss Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Great Job Ben,is Jamie going to cast it up? Thank you,Chris

Kostas Parchas Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Ben, Looks very nice & cool!! Kostas.
Jim B Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 The entire engine? That's a pretty good idea.

Hey Jim, yeah I hope he'll do the whole engine so anyone that doesn't have and AMT "L" series kit can get just the motor to use in any project. Another reason I hope he'll do the whole thing is that I actually had to use two kits to make the engine correct. The cylinder heads and valve covers should be the same for both sides. Not a "right" and a "left" as AMT made them.
Old Albion Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Ben, Great work. Another engine for our inventry of aftermarket parts. Oh by the way just to let you know I have got all my info together for the 1693 and will be making a start in the next week or two. Dave
phoneguy Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Ben--I need a few myself. The LN that I'm building with the Yellow fleet sure could use one, and I may be adding a LTS to the pack. Great work on it. Now if you would only do the Dodge L-1000!
RyanSilva Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Nice work Ben! I hope Jamie or someone casts It, I could use a few of them for my C cab/louisville fleets!
Jim B Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Looks like you've got another winner here, Ben! Now, if you can just keep the 800-lb Yellow Gorilla away.
