junkman1153 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 it is like having a mental block, perhaps the model means so much to you it just doesn't seem to be possible to build it to your satisfaction. my build is my old street division /limited sportsman 55 chevy 2dr sedan. maybe it is because this car was transformed over 2 seasons from a 6 cylinder street division to a327 limited sportsman i have started this build several times and end up putting it away i know i have at least 4 versions of this car started. just wondering if iam the only one who has that build they cant finish
Junkman Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Tis my Tamiya Jaguar MKII. Everything turned out superb so far. But I can't get them bleeding windows installed properly. I'm also doing a 55 Nomad and just can't get the banana trim look right with BMF. I. Just. Can't. Bloody. Do. It.
Railfreak78 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Mine is an odd ball that most would not have a problem with. For me it's the Chevy Trucks of two styles. The 68-72 and the 73 to 79. I have owned a 77 Chevy p/u and an 80 GMC Jimmy and an 83 Suburban. My dad had a 72 that was killer and I was able to drive it a lot when I was 16. He also had an 83 p/u. When ever I build these kits I am not happy. It does not matter what style I build from street rod to 4x4 I am not happy. I don't get it. Now whats funny is I want a heck of a lot more of them!
JamesW Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Mine is the AMT 71 Duster. I keep looking at it but can't bring myself to start it. Some of you will think I'm crazy because it's not a special kit or anything, it's just the motivation for the build that's stopping me. I plan to build a replica of the first car my dad ever owned and he's been gone almost 6 years. It's a sentimental thing with it.
Chuck Most Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 I've always wanted to build a Pocher Bugatti coupe, because it is (by classic Pocher standards) easiest to build, and is a cool subject I like. But the price and rarity of the kits, as well as the huge investment of time it would take, kind of keeps it out of my reach, at least for now. That, and I'm kind of afraid of finishing it and getting sucked into the "Pocher Trap"...
B_rad88 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 i got a monogram bugatti eb110, and im affraid to build it, a good friend gave it to me. i have read and looked at pics of the horror stories about building that kit, and since my skillz aren't up to par, im not going to touch it right now. im also kinda iffy on touching my fujimi enthusiast porsche 356b/c 2000gts hardtop i have, it looks very complex. there is several other grail kits i want, but iffy on building them when(IF) i get them..........
Madd Trucker Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Ihave a Pocher Volvo truck kit I bought 15 years ago for $75.00 .I promised my self it will be my last build. and it will be fully detailed when I do build it.
Jantrix Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Mine is a AMT 51 Fleetline that I started as a modern resto-mod and then sorta started adding classic kustom elements to the body. The two sides/ideas of this build just didn't work together for me, so I gave the project to my son to do whatever to and I wouldn't have to worry about anymore.
Agent G Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Mine is the AMT 51 Chevy, not the Fleetline though. I want to replicate Bud White's police car from LA Confidential. I just know I will screw it up. G
moparmagiclives Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) years ago when I was younger first starting to build with my dad, he gave me a jimmy flinstone testors/model master "milk truck" and "stude wagon". I'm not sure if its because they're resin, or just the memories, but I would rather look at them on the shelf than risk fowling them up. He still askes when Im giong to start them, and I say " as soon as I get a few of these others done" and he says, well hell youll never get to them. Edited October 3, 2010 by moparmagiclives
DRG Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 There were two models that I just simply can not, or could not, build as a 12 or 13 year old. The old, early sixties, 1957 Chevy and the 1937 Cord. They just simply never looked right.
forthlin Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) Trumpeters '60 Bonneville. I bought this when it first came out in the late 90's & it's still waiting to be built . My Mom drove one of these back in the mid 60's & I wanted to build it as a duplicate. Every time I break it out to start it I worry I'll screw it up so back on the shelf it goes for another time.
