sjordan2 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Well, this isn't about model cars, but this builder, John Reid, is amazing. He builds wooden tall ships (and I believe he also does kit prototypes). Here's a lengthy thread on his HMS Victory. Check his other builds as well in the links. http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/large-scale-boats/2169-hms-victory.html

I am always amazed at how far some people take their detail and realism levels to levels that are so amazing it almost takes your breath away. I just had a thought - how long do you think he dreamed/thought/planned for this build? Even before he grabbed a piece of wood or string. I am envious of his focus and his ability to stay with a project for as long as it took to build. Just amazing.
charlie8575 Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 WOW! That's 1/72 scale? In almost any scale, it would still be an amazing piece of work, but in that size, it's mind-blowing. Take the time to go through the Photobucket gallery. It's well worth it. Charlie Larkin
Guest Johnny Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 My hat comes off to the Man! I know how much work is in a build like that! I built three like that! The USS Constitution, The Cutty Sark and another whose name eludes me at the moment! All for other people! I remember pulling all nighters so I would not have any distractions (wife and kids:rolleyes: ) other than WSM radio Nashville in the background to help keep my sanity and a large pot of coffee to keep me awake! I think it greatly contributed to my worsening eyesight!
