Hattley Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I’ve seen this tool, pictured on many workbenches and thought “my X-Acto works just fineâ€. That was until I picked up a Nipper Tool. I cant believe I’ve gone this long without one. If you’re like me do yourself a favor and get one today.
JamesW Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I keep looking at those when I go to the LHS, but like you, I always say "my xacto works just fine". Maybe I'll have to pick up a pair.
Art Anderson Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Been using the Testors/Xuron sprue nippers for years now, worn out several pairs--highly recommend them! Art
envious8420 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hobby Lobby has them in the bead/jewelry making isle for 9 bucks
Aaronw Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yep, I was like you, and always looked at sprue cutters as luxury items for those who didn't know what to spend their money on. I finally bought one in a discount bin at a local shop, and I'd never give it up, it is by far the most used tool I own.
jbwelda Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 radio shack used to (and probably still does) stock a great nipper for about half what they wanted for one in a hobby shop. they had red rubber on the handles. excellent and comfortable...i too thought an xacto was fine but i learned different once i started using a nipper!
