Back in the day, I never used to miss Star Trek. I would not count myself as being a "Trekkie" but I liked the show as a teen ager and I have seen all of the movies. I always thought that the Enterprise was quite pretty and for it's time, I guess thatthe series was fairly well made. I bought a bunch of built up models earlier this year and in the bottom of the one box as a model of the Galileo - the space shuttle used in the series. That made my day! My eldest son has quite a few Star Trek models and I have considered buying a couple once I get my toy room together.

When the original series was running, I sent to the production studio and they sent me several envelopes full of stills from different episodes as well as a cut away drafting-like drawing plan of the Enterprise showing all of the decks and the structure of the ship. They were actually quite gracious as I asked for a shot of the Galileo and they sent me a nice 8"x10" glossy. My two younger brothers either gave away or destroyed my pictures - bummer. I'd sure like to have those framed and hanging on a wall today.. Nice model.. can you please post some more pictures of her? I felt a real sadness when the original Enterprise was destroyed near the end of one of the earlier movies - don't recall which one that was. B) It was pretty cool near the start of the last movie when they showed her being built.. Thanks for posting - I know it is not a car but it's cool all the same!:):)

Very nicely done!

How about some more photos?

On a side note,

My wife recently retired as Director of Casino Operations from the Las Vegas Hilton. She has attended every single Star Trek convention in 20 years. Our house is decorated in Trek LOL! She has met darn near every cast member, and still occasionally communicates with Michael Dorn.

From which kit did that one come from? I got myself the Snap Together Kit I haven't touched yet. Anyway Great Job! She's ready for more adventures.

I did not like the way she looked in JJ Abram's movie of a couple of years ago.

Nether did I, all they did Was give it a Motion picture style Saucer Section, Sleek out the main hull (Engineering Section), then proceeded to worsen it by giving it two Nacelle Dorsals from the Enterprise E, and then to top it all off Changed the Nacelles to look more sleek. I hated the way that ship looked, which is why I am not going to watch a sequel if they make one. I had seen pictures created by people of a new look to the Enterprise that would have looked a hell of allot better than that JJ Abrahams ship.

I felt it looked like a caricture. He should have made it just like the original beauty!

Yes I agree, even if they only made slight changes I could have lived with it.

Very cool!

Not much of a 'Trekkie', but I do like Star Trek. I've been thinking of taking this kit and modifying it into the Defiant, from the 'Enterprize' episode 'In a mirror, darkly'. It's one of those famous Trek 'alternate reality' episodes, where the evil Enterprise crew steals the Defiant (not only is it in the opposite universe, it's also from 100 years in the future!)

My favorite part of the episode is the on the Defiant's bridge- it looked just like the set of the original Star Trek , even had the same beep and chirp sounds going on, but they darkened the lighting and backlit the screens and it actually looked pretty cool!

I miss that show so much, I wished that UPN didn't cancel it the way they did. If there was to be any reviving of Enterprise, It would almost be to late now. Still I like your Idea, That would be very cool to see.

Did you know that that episode of Enterprise was a tie in to a original series episode? It was called "The Tholian Web, and featured the USS Defiant, it was phasing in and out of a rift between 2 universes, and Capt. Kirk got caught on the ship as it disappeared into the alternate universe. The makers of Enterprise did a really good job to make sure the crew of the Defiant were in the exact same positions on the bridge that they were in on the TOS episode.

Chuck, if you do the Defiant, her registry # is NCC-1764. I have a couple of screen caps from that episode, as well as The Tholian web I would be glad to send them to you.

Yep- and the Enterprise episode was the first to feature a Gorn since TOS! Oh, did you remember when they boarded the Defiant, they stepped over the lifeless body of a Redshirt? B):):D:D It's amazing anyone ever makes it up the ranks in Starfleet...

Might be a while before I get to it, Lee, but thanks for your offer to help! I kind of need to get the old Trek modeling bug again first, but I think I see a few Trek builds in the not so distant future. B)

Now that's the Enterprise! No amount of changing is going to replace that beauty B) ! I was thinking about getting the Refit ship from Polar lights myself. Excellent Job!

Lee,

SWEET! I love it. I built the old AMT kit and painted it white. My oldest son has it now. I'm not a hardcore Trekkie, but I like to dabble in it once in a while :P

I enjoy watching all the TV series nad most of the movies

Years ago, I built the Enterprise "D" from the alternate universe in the final Next Gen episode. I found a resin conversion kit with the third engine. It was pretty cool when it was done. I painted all the windows by hand, took me forever ;)

My oldest boy has all my old built Star Trek stuff. I might build one again some day

BTW, I just retired from the Michigan National Guard, 21E, Heavy Equip Operator. I used to be in Co. A, 107th Engineers, but then I transfered to the 1432nd Engineer Support Co after I spent a year in Afghanistan.

I've only been retired two months and I miss it already.

Cheers, Ian

Ian, thank you sir for your service to your country. I only wish more people would remember 9-11. I think the images should be played on the news every night.

Lee, This is a real nice clean buildup of the Polar Lights 1/1000 Enterprise. I'm currently working on one myself.

Did you pick up the Polar Lights 1/1000 Refit? That's also a nice kit.

Posted

Mike, No, I dont have the refit kit yet, but it's on the wish list. I do have the Klingon D-7 Battle Cruiser.
