Swifster Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Jacen was nice enough to set me straight on the white used on Herbie. Need to get more paint. The white I bought would be good for my dad's white '68, but not this car. Need some white pearl for Herbie.
Dirkpitt289 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I'm just about to start a 1986 Mustang GTO Racer. I think this meets the requirements of this build. I'll be glad to join if you guys find this acceptable.
W-409 Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Great, thanks for entry! You are on the list. And that really is acceptable. That kind of Mustang would be very nice to build. Take your time building it, I'll be watching that as interesting project.
Dirkpitt289 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Here is the start of my 86 Bruce Jenner Driven Mustang GTO The 600+HP Rouche motor. The directions called out for the motor to be painted silver. To be honest I couldn't find anything that proved or disproved that and since I like the Ford Blue better I went with that instead. I just like it better :102: Distributor set The painting and assembly of the frame work also started. here you can see the battery box in place and the oil tank drying Radiator and cover
patami Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Dirk have started that kit some 30 odd years ago. But whit the Robert Lappalainen livery. Newer got it together thou. Tried to do fancy detaling whit out the needed skill and got tired of the whole kit. Got the engine and three wheels and tires still in my parts box. Some day i gonna build that kit jet. :
patami Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 There's no time like the present Patrik... Thats so true Dirk
wgflatliner Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I got the motorcraft got mustang kit.. Not gonna build it for this cbp though.
Swifster Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) Jacen was kind enough to send me a couple copies of his Love Bug decals for Herbie. I've told him 'thanks' more than once, but he was very kind in sending these. They look great. Thanks again Jacen!!! I'm going to try to find the manditory white pearl paint tomorrow. Haubenschild Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) Can I enter with a 1968 McLaren M8A? Edited January 10, 2012 by Haubenschild
W-409 Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Sure you can, Liam! Thanks for joining in. I'll add your name to the entry list. Tom: Really great looking decals, can't wait to see them installed.
wgflatliner Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Well the body of my sauber Mercedes is painted and I am almost done with the crazy decal job. The decals weren't fully cooperating so they arent perfect. Will get pics tonight.
wgflatliner Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Here's the pic of my progress. The color call out was not a readily available color so I had to follow kit directions and mix bottle paint, thin, and airbrush. These decals were tough to get them to separate from the backing paper, had to use a hobby knife. Sorry for the quality.
wgflatliner Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 And a layout of parts including scale motorsport composite carbon fiber decals and photo etch set
patami Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Mark your of to a good start there. Now there is only the assembly left
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 That is one clean work bench. Nice work on those decals too.
W-409 Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Great job so far! I can believe, those decals were quite tricky to install. Very nice paintjob on that body, will look very good when finished. Now needs to make some progress for my builds too...
wgflatliner Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I can honestly say the decals were more difficult than they needed to be, only because they didn't want to let go of the paper. And I'm not even done with them yet! I will probably get a dish and do some decals while on my lunch break so I can consider the body done with the exception of the future clear coat. The carbon fiber decal set will be a nice addition to the kit.
wgflatliner Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Alright so I got the body decals finished at work.
Haubenschild Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 After weeks of sanding the rear cowl is finally smooth enough to be repainted , I started off by sealing it with tamiya TS-13 clear and will move on to painting after it is primed
vwrabbit Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Count me in. Doing a 1955 Corvette - Tribute to the 150mph milestone record setting Vette. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/10/1955-corvette-tribute-to-milestone.html Tim
W-409 Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Tim, you are in, thanks for joining! Liam, that rear cowl looks very good now when it's painted. Hopefully there comes no problems with it, and you don't have to paint it again.
