Steve Keck Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Why is it some of you must hide behind your computers and bully the contributors here? Gregg said it again yesterday: "....be courteous to others, watch your spelling and grammar,...". And, these are NOT mutually exclusive! Just because someone can't or won't spell correctly doesn't give anyone the right to be discourteous to them. I've stopped posting here because it's a pain to log in. I took that abuse today to log in to post this. No need to reply because I won't go to the trouble to attempt to login and respond. That being said this needs to be said as well: GET A HOBBY - other than hiding behind your computers and bullying others. While I don't log in, I do follow what's going on here and I've been following JIMMY. At one time or another NONE of us could spell. So what if he's way behind on the spelling and grammar learning curve! At least he's got a hobby and he can build. I've seen what he's posted. He's helpful. If you don't want his help then just skip over his posts. If those that criticize Jimmy would channel that energy into improving their own modeling skills then the hobby would be better for it.
DRG Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 There are a lot of really nice, polite and helpful people on this forum. I can not understand why so much attention is being given to the few that fire up trouble and discontent every chance they get. That is not to say I don't agree with this posting and one of a similar nature yesterday, I do. But our words are not going to change them in anyway. They seem to think they can say whatever they want to whom ever they want. Fine, I will just ignore ignorant responces and replies and go on with my life.
Mike Kucaba Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 It isn't/wasn't" just" about the spelling. It was more about attitude.
Danno Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Dittoes, Steve! You too, Mark! I can't believe some of the comments of so-called adults that have been directed toward Jimmy. I've seen the other youngster's diatribes toward Jimmy (and those of his two boy cheering section), but that's just a bunch of stuff from the peanut gallery that's easily ignored and dismissed; they're just kids. And the RomperRoom back-and-forth among all of them has been almost ... almost ... amusing. But to see grown-ups choosing up sides and piling on Jimmy's apparently well-meaning posts ... and one or two calling the youngster terrible names on this very public forum, well, it's sadly embarrassing to think how that represents the hobby. I hope that has earned those perps a 'time-out' or two. Man on man, fine. Man on child, man should be ashamed of himself. Think of the example it sets for not only Jimmy and the others who post, but also for the undoubtedly vast majority of youths who read the board but don't post. My twocents. I've got my fire extinguisher at the ready.

Darin Bastedo Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 i'll ask what is it with some of you? This is almost exactly like the thread mark taylor started the other day and the mods locked. My answer to that thread is echoed in this quote from Gregg; "All we ask is to respect each other, and us, of course, and treat this as a place you would like to call home, for your model car needs, of course. If you have any problems with other members of the board, please bring it up to the moderators of the board, send a Report via the topic or thread, or send me an email." Why do you guys feel the need to clog the board with threads complaining about other members? We can't do anything about it, only the mods can edit lock or remove threads and posts. share your concerns with them. As for Mark's "one man troll parade" I think if you stuck to model related subjects and stopped taking it personally when someone disagrees with you, you might feel a little less put upon. I'f you decide to post something provacative, prepared for someone else to be provoked. You can't bully someone into agreeing with you, and no matter how many persanal attacks you make, it won't stop people from speaking their mind.

I agree that people shouldn't attack Jimmy, or call him names, but not because he's a kid but because he is a forum member, but respect is also a two way street and I refuse to expect less respect from him because he's a kid. When I was a young kid, I was allowed to hang with the adults, so long as I was respectful and behaved myself, If I became rude and disrespectful I was sent away where i didn't annoy anybody. I don't dislike the kid, but he's got just a little too much smart-alec in him for my taste.

I do not disagree with you in general, but most of the 'tude young Jimmy was displaying was directed at the other one as part of their head-to-head ... that which I referred to as the RomperRoom antics. As long as grown men act like grown men, we can ask (expect) the youngsters to behave like young men whilest among us. But we've all gotta act like grown men (mature), too. Respect begets respect. Harry P. Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I'm sure you all saw the lock coming. There's nothing to be gained by letting this thread go on. You've made your points. Now live up to them. And stop hammering Jimmy! Yes, his writing style can be annoying, but what he's actually saying doesn't deserve the kind of attacks some of you have made. Sure, he's not the most articulate guy on the planet, but he's also not the flamethrower some of you have made him out to be. All of the Jimmy bashers need to go back and read his posts again, then ask yourselves what exactly got you so riled up in the first place? If it's his bad grammar or poor spelling, all I can say is we get plenty of that here from a lot of people, so let's get off Jimmy's back and leave the moderating to the moderators.
