old-hermit Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 It's been a long time since I built a 1/25 road tractor so I dove head first into two at once. The first is a Chevy Titan 90 and the second is a 359 Pete. Both will be working trucks. The Chevy will be box stock, mostly dechromed with some road grime and the Pete will get a little splice & dice treatment. Heres a couple of pics of the Titan so far ... The pete is the cheap snap kit so if I screw it up it wont hurt so much. I wanted a day cab so this is where the splice & dice comes in ... I had to remove the sleeper floor and notch behind the cab for the rear wall. More to come ...
old-hermit Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) I cut the bunk off the interior and made a rear wall out of sheet styreen ... I found some chrome 1/4 fenders and mounted them with streight pins & styreen tube. The tires in the kit are no name junk so I took some Goodyears from the parts box. I covered the remaining sleeper floor with the kit catwalk and added some more to extend it to the fifth wheel plate. Engine is box stock and painted Cat yellow. The Titan cab is in the purple pond after I screwed up the paint. Hopefully the Pete will get painted tomorrow if I don't screw it up too. Might as well admit it now, I'm not much of a painter. More to come later ... . Edited November 12, 2010 by old-hermit
old-hermit Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 She's finished except for the fifth wheel. Paint's still wet. More pics here ... http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage/25th-scale-trucks/359-pete-day-cab/
old-hermit Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) Five days soaking in three different paint strippers, scrubbed with a coarse bristle brush and this is how it turned out. Think I'm gonna leave it like this, weather the chassis and have a logging truck to go with my stick hauler trailer. Edit: I changed the bottom pic. Edited November 19, 2010 by old-hermit
old-hermit Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Wow, it's been a while. This winter weather has put a serious crimp in my building, plus I've had a couple of large scale builds taking up my work bench. Anyway, I built another trailer for the 359. It just seems to fit better than the dump. I should have painted the interior walls brown too because these reefers had plywood walls. Ahh well, hindsight's 20/20.
borz666 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Thats some really nice detailing on that combo, nice clean paint work on that trailer. Superb Chris
Guest Markus355 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 pretty cool titan... pretty much the opposite of the titan im building. (show truck)
