CaptainAhab Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Just painted a body and in the last coat it accidentally fell off the stand. Messed up the top of the trunk... Do i let it dry and sand just that spot and repaint? Or strip it and start over completely? Id take a picture but my camera isn't too good at close ups. Its kinda deep. Any advice? I used 3 coats of model master lacquer on top of gray primer.
LoneWolf15 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Joe , If it's a standard color , try polishing it out . If it is a metallic or pearl , forget it ! Into the purple pond it goes ! Me , I'd throw it into the pond and start over . You can also sand it out and lay a few more coats over it to see if it covers up . Donn Yost
CaptainAhab Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Thanks for the tips Donn. It is a metallic color and it looks like I may have to start over
roadhawg Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Why don't you try doing what they do on REAL cars.....tape off and repaint the trunk? As long as it's not some candy or transparent paint, you shouldn't have an issue matching it. I'd at least try it, before stripping an otherwise good paint job.
