Finally back at this. Pieced together the hood and scratch built some skirts. Still have alot of cleaning up to do and need to rescribe panel/door lines

Wow what a stunner!

Used the roof section from a 32 ford. Worked quite well. Still have quite a bit of work/and cleaning up to do but here's the chop:

Going with a subtle chop as I find this car doesn't need all that much to look good. Here's what I had to do get it there:

Haven't done a build thread in awhile so here we go... This is an older AMT kit I got on eBay super cheap. It was the one with the yellow gasser on the box. My plans are a traditional custom with the usual goodies: caddy wheel covers, chopped, lowered, shaved etc etc. I also plan on shoehorning a Buick nailhead under the hood as well. I plan on scratch building the fender skirts and using a steering wheel from a 49 ford, unless I can find an early 50s Chevy butterfly wheel. Anybody know where I can get one?

I'm positive. The ones from the kit are essentially the same thing except the center is a Cadillac crest, while these have a bullet in the center. Thanks again guys!

The kind words mean alot to me Yes, it was wet sanded threw all the usual grades I then hit it with a cleaner wax, novus 2 and 1, and then a little meguires mist and wipe when it was all assembled to removed finger prints/ dust etc etc. Thank you Dr Cranky for the polishing tips by the way. Very pleased with the results !

Box Stock except for the wheel covers. Sniped them out of the AMT Mercury Kit. Lowered the Suspension a little bit and Painted it Hoduras Maroon. Enjoy

Thanks guys. Looks like i'll have to wait and see if they make them again. In the meantime I'll order from Modelhaus and/or rob from the Revell Merc kit

My hardtop came with the option of both, not aware that there are different releases ? My kit is is the one with the Black Victoria on the box
