I pretty much use Dupli Color paints to paint my bodyshells all the time, although I rarely use a clearcoat, as I prefer to polish out the paint which I think looks more like the factory finish for the models I build, I have used there clearcoat a few times, and had no problems with it.

YES! Just remember that Duplicolor IS a lacquer. You must prime well and completely or evil, bad, nasty stuff will happen. I've been using Duplicolor nearly exclusively for a while now.

It sprays almost as good as Tamiya right out of the can.....It is a breeze to decant. I use all the types, primer through clear...over Tamiya, MM, and HOK

Actually, Duplicolor has both enamels and lacquers, Rob. I have used Duplicolor paints for many years now, and never have had a problem. I have found that the old smaller 6 oz (I think) touch up cans were enamel, but the new larger sized cans ARE lacquer! I didn't find this out until after I bought the paint for this build for the Jairus Race Plane CPB here of the summer,

...and even worse, after I had already sprayed the yellow. The yellow was Duplicolor enamel in the large 12 oz can, and the blue was Perfect Match touch up cans, a Ford blue if I remember correctly. I did notice a very slight amount of crazing where the blue lacquer covered the yellow overspray, but after another coat or two the crazing disappeared. As for clearcoats, there is no clear used on this one, and even the laqcuer has a nice shine.

EDIT:By the way, don't mind the little roughness on the color separations, two tones aren't one of my best areas!

I use Duplicolor quite a bit (Got a great deal on a unclaimed shipment of it) and one thing I'll say is that as long as you prime it almost always comes out great looking. Only problems I've ever had is that you gotta check the spray nozzels before you spray other wise you get a splatter effect, rather than a smooth spray, And you may also want to wipe off the spray nozzle after use aswell to prevent this later on.

hope this helps.

I never spray from the can, I usually get mine mixed in 100mls, and delivered in small bottles, but if I do find the correct shade in aerosol I always decant the paint into a glass jar and add a small glass ball to the jar, which helps mix the paint later.

Has any one use the stuff that come's the qurt size? The paint and they have like three different clear coats you can use. Whats the good/Bad and what all brands do you use for like primer and such under it.

See it today at a Store over in kalamazoo and was just thinking of trying it but for $21 a qurt of paint and $28 for clear I would like to know some more on this subject.

The Paint Shop primer works very well, doesn't craze the plastic at all. You may want to thin it a bit with some acetone, as it can come out a bit grainy when shot through an airbrush. I've been experimenting with the clear, trying it over several different primers/finishes on .010" sheet plastic to see how it reacts, as I've been told that it's "too hot" for plastic use. So far, other than the need to use a larger tip on my airbrush, I've had good results with it over Duplicolor rattle can primer, Paint shop primer, Tamiya laquer primer (white), and Testors Laquer primer as bases, and using Testors Laquer (Citron Yellow), Tamiya Laquer (Dark Maroon), and Duplicolor Spray Laquer (Dark Silver Metallic). All did well with no crazing or distortion of the sheet. The only one I saw an issue with was the cards I did using Duplicolor Self Etching primer (olive green), all 3 cards primed that way warped after the clear was applied.
