post-6686-0-26276400-1295266572_thumb.jpI love ya'lls trucks! When I was a kid, a friend of my grand dad's went to Australia and brought back pics of Road trains! Love to ride in one! Got a couple questions. Can you back one? i've heard stories of people backing them, in America, if you tried to back doubles, it would look like a small train wreck. Some pics I see, the prime movers have floatation steer tires some don't. Si it a company or driver prefference? How do you couple multiple trailers? I found some pics of interiors or your trucks, WOW! Acouple had two sticks, not just a 3x4, or a 4x5, but a 13 spd stick next to a 4spd, then an 18, with a 13.Could see the red and grey splitter buttomns on the sides. B) Can that be explained? The headlights on yalls trucks are mostly four big round lights. Are they brighter? Last one, I swear, when turning, I imagine you need to make a WIDE turn, or are the dollies, and trailers made to track better?

Mate , road trains are pushed for time so unless you know someone in the industry there's no chance of you getting in one .The two trailer road trains start at a town called dubbo and head out west, then they turn right at nyngan head out to bourke and hook up the third trailer and then north-north west to the outback .Now if you go out to one of the companys in the alice ,( springs ) you MAY get to sit in one and just maybe get a ride if you are a trucker from where you are ? Australian truckies don't have alot of time to drive people around so we arnt rude just very busy .Hope this puts some light on your question mate ,cheer's mark , (scummy).

scummy,

I understand completely that time is money! My whole family on my dad's side is or were truckers. Don't wanna keep the wheels from turnin, just wonderin what the chances of goin on a run would be if one ever made it out there. I'm in the Army, as a truck driver, but the Army is all automatic. Alot of Americans never learned to drive a stick shift. Let alone even seen a 10 or more speed. Some guys an Army truck is the first thing they've ever driven! Thanks fpr the heads up!

Well? Don't keep us in suspenders, man! Tell us about it!

Jim,the picture I took in 1982 while working for a KW dealership. I had just parked it there, and had to run & get the camera before Tom left. The rig is owned by Tom Hoving from Hudsonville,Mich. Had a "400" Cummins,13sp.It took 11 days to paint just one side of the trailer ! His company was called "Chuck Wagon Express" He had two truck in his fleet at the time.
